Amour
Several NYCB dancers (Sara Mearns, Justin Peck, Ashley Bouder) have either tweeted or put on Instagram that former NYCB principal and ballet master Albert Evans died late Monday evening. More detail will probably be forthcoming. Link to comment
sandik
This is terrible news. I was so interested in watching him as a coach for Peck's work in Ballet 422 -- he seemed to have a great eye. Link to comment

abatt
The most personal memory I have of Evans was from a tribute/memorial to the late Ulysses Dove that took place at the State Theater. Evans and various others performed Dove's Red Angels, and at the bows Evans had to wipe away tears. I remember reading that Evans regarded Dove as a mentor and role model. So sorry Evans is gone at such a young age. Link to comment
Balanchinomane
So sad to hear this. Such a wonderful artist. Unforgettable as Phlegmatic in 4 Ts and as the winsome cowboy in Western Symphony. Sincere condolences to his family and friends. Link to comment
Dale
Very sad news. And he obviously touched a generation of dancers as a coach, too. While he was very good in a host of Balanchine roles, some of my favorite performances of his were in somewhat guilty-pleasure pieces, because he could make bad ballets look really good with his beautifully musical dancing. He has passed way too early. Link to comment
