Ballet Alert is an audience site to discuss performances and ballet news, history, music, and issues. If you want to discuss ballet training, please go to Ballet Pursuit, which was created by a former member of Ballet Talk for Dancers, which has since closed after two decades.
Ballet Alert! is heavily moderated, and we will edit, remove, or move posts in violation. You can find our Rules and Policies here. But before you register, please understand three that are encountered most:
1. Official news only with links or citations. This is news that ballet professionals, including administratio, journalists, and authors post to their public-facing social media, appear in professional's blogs, books, magazine articles, and interviews, public lectures, and generally accepted public gestures, like getting a solor bow and flowers to indicate a last performance.
2. Do not discuss the discussion or each other. If you think a post violates board policy, click the elipses (...) in the right hand corner of the post and select "Report" from the drop-down menu.
3. Company forums are for what you think. If you want to discuss what critics say, post that in the "Writings on Ballet" forum.
After You Register.
Your registration must be approved manually. It can take up to 48 hours. Until your registration is approved, you can post only to the Welcome forum, which also must be approved manually.
If you don't enter a first and last name -- only you and the Moderators can see these fields -- we won't approve your membership.
Your privacy is important to us. To better protect your privacy we provide this notice explaining our online information practices and the choices you can make about the way your information is collected and used. To make this notice easy to find, we make it available in our footer and at every point where personally identifiable information may be requested.
Log files are maintained and analysed of all requests for files on this website's web servers. Log files do not capture personal information but do capture the user's IP address, which is automatically recognised by our web servers.
Our Commitment to Children's Privacy
Protecting the privacy of the very young is especially important. Members must be 16 to register at Ballet Alert!
