mimsyb
It would make a great advertising poster for the LA stint: the three new women at the Principal rank are California girls Perhaps put them in tutus on surf boards! California dreaming! Link to comment
Josette
Osipova danced the premiere of The Firebird in Orange County and originated the role, though no doubt Copeland will dance it at the LA Music Center next summer and there will be publicity galore. I have never seen Copeland in a principal role and I am interested to see her technical and artistic development, hopefully, this time next year. As a Californian, I would not consider Kochetkova as a California girl, as she did not grow up or receive any dance training here. I am eager to see Abrera most of all, whom I find exquisite. Misty Copeland was one of the three dancers that the lead in Firebird was set on by Ratmansky, along with Osipova and Isabela Boylston (though Josette is correct that she did not "originate" the role as the first performer). onxmyxtoes
Question - did Copeland get a chance to perform the role at all before her injury? Yes she did, both in CA and NY. If memory serves me correctly, she did all scheduled performances of the Firebird and then pulled out of the rest of Met season. Link to comment

ksk04
Not only did she dance it--internet chatter and reviews were consistently very, very good. Copeland was a lot better (both dancing and characterization wise) than Osipova in the premiere run at SCFTA. Didn't see Boylston who was 3rd cast. Thought all of the second cast--Copeland and Cornejo and Zhurbin--were miles beyond first cast Gomes and Hallberg and Osipova (heresy, I know). Thinking about it makes me miss Messmer and Ricetto who were both the Maiden. Link to comment

The other day I was thinking about On the Dnieper (because of this board, no doubt), and I remembered how I preferred the second (or third?) casting of Messmer and Ricetto in the leads to the first cast of Part and Herrerra. They are two brilliant dancers, both technically and theatrically. Sad I never got to see Ricetto's Giselle. Link to comment

Messmer in particular. Seeing how many soloists left the company in the last 5 years really highlights not only how much talent was lost but also how remarkable it is that some of them stayed...including Stella and Misty. stuben
This may sound like I am reminiscing but I am glad to see that I have found where the wonderful three ballerinas we have loved all these years have been up to after their farewell. Looks like all three are remaining in the ballet world in one form or another, I might just venture up to CT for my beloved Xiomara and hope that Herrera will soon post more updates on her website too! Next season won't be the same without them Kent:<http://www.nationalreview.com/article/420762/julie-kent-interview-part-I<http://www.nationalreview.com/article/420762/julie-kent-interview-part-i> Reyes: <http://harttweb.hartford.edu/community/summer/from_studio_to_stage.aspx> Herrera: <www.palomaherrera.com/> Link to comment

Barbara
I'm sad to see so many seasoned corps members have left. It really feels like the changing of the guard. I wish them all well in their future endeavors. I'll have to spend time with my binocs to get to know the new group in the fall plus I guess it's time to pick up one of those handy pamphlets! I feel the same way when there's a big rollover in the corps in my hometown (Pacific Northwest Ballet). The corps holds so much common knowledge, especially about timing and other style issues. When there's "a disturbance in the force," you notice. Link to comment

I would love to see Reyes, Herrera and Kent return as either coaches or AD...wishful thinking Link to comment
abatt
I'm guessing that Kent would return in some capacity to ABT. Based ont the Paloma interviews I've read, she does not seem eager to continue in any way with ballet in general or ABT in particular. Link to comment

Would make sense I would assume since Kent's husband is still the associate AD. Guess I can't be surprised about Paloma especially the exit show she was given. I would love to see Ximomara return in some form as well, these 3 will be missed at least by me and my friends and family. Link to comment
