Copeland is charming. The lovely Abrera dances as Lilac in Act 1 then does a character role in an 1890's [god]mother of the bride get-up. Do Murphy-Stearns and Seo-Gomes do the fish dives?
Balanchine's Union Jack has women off pointe in sailor suits and women on pointe in other segments. Any tap? Balanchine might have added some: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qafnJ6mRbgk.
If a choreographer is working with dancers incapable of pointe that is one thing.
The ABT Kennedy Center Cinderella matinees had many little girls dressed in party dresses as well as Disney Princess outfits. WB and ABT certainly could sell mini Aurora, Odette/Odile, Cinderella tutu gowns.
Not joking. Early this morning were 4-6 at one show and 8 at another for the 9th and the 12th. I check frequently in case there is a more reasonable orchestra seat. 1 balcony now for Thurs.
Tickets are available on the Kennedy Center website for Misty Copeland's performances . She was enchanting as autumn fairy in ABT Cinderella. $215 is fine for a divertissement program where I am assured of my favorites [or people I want to see] dancing. With Bayadere there's Nikiya/Gamzatti/Solor/Golden Idol/shades variations....
This morning the Kennedy Center had some in the balcony for $215. If she doesn't perform that would be sad for those paying high prices. Recognizing the pride in this performance it would be nice if Sun evening was moved to the Opera House.
Does Misty Copeland do a fairy in Cinderella?
