The latest news I have on this, from Nikolaj Hubbe's assistant, is that they are not planning a Bournonville festival as such, but a festival of some sort in June 2018, which would include some Bournonville. That was a few months ago and of course things may have changed. Last year the RDB announced their new season in late April.

My suggestion would be that under the "Explore Ballet" tab, the "Programs" heading be changed to "Events", since "programs" can be ambiguous. House programs? And I agree that "Explore Ballet" doesn't immediately suggest things like pre-performance talks.

There are now 5 male principals. In terms of numbers, 6 male principals has been fairly typical at NBOC, and I expect Gabriele Frola or Skylar Campbell will be promoted to principal in June to take it back there.

It doesn't matter how it's pronounced in Russian, we're speaking and writing English, so the conventional English spelling Bolshoi should be used. Someone searching "Bolshoi" on this forum will not find your posts, and many people seeing your headings will have no idea what company you are talking about, or only after some reflection.

PBS Boston showed teh Jacob's Pillow doc after the first NYCB program. Apparently in FLorida they showed "Black Ballerina" after NYCB.

I watched this on my TV yesterday and am wondering if I just didn't have the right aspect ratio for my tv (which I tried to adjust but couldn't) or whether other people were also frustrated by feet (and sometimes entire lower legs) being cut off. It's beyond me why camera operators on a long view give you a picture where the dancers take up the lower 1/4 of the picture and the remaining 3/4 is backdrop. News flash: the backdrop in Balanchine ballets is NOT THAT INTERESTING!!! I can't check it online because we can't watch PBS online from Canada (although goodness knows enough Canadians support PBS with their $$$$ grumble grumble grumble)

It's pretty much the same, but with different sets and costumes (better ones for POB in my opinion). The DVD is abridged because it had to fit into a 90-minute slot for TV. They chopped the fairies, among other things.

I suspect they meant that it is his first appearance at YAGP as a professional, rather than as a competitor. But I agree it is very misleading. When I saw it I also thought, WTH???
