volcanohunter Posted April 4 Share Posted April 4 The thing with Prince Gremin is that Curley may qualify as "too hot" for the role, i.e., excessively strong competition for Onegin for the story to be plausible. When the National Ballet of Canada performed the ballet in November, two debutant Gremins were yanked at the last minute, though neither was injured, and at least one of them qualified as extremely imposing. Another dancer ended up performing Gremin in 6 of 7 performances. Link to comment

There are a lot of roles for dancers to make their mark in this beautiful work. In O.C., Alessandra Ferri is not dancing (I'm so disappointed, but fortunately I saw her dance this twice last year). Please see be sure to see her in NY, she is superb. Given the comments about Whiteside's injury above, we shall soon have an idea as to his recovery. I am seeing each cast. The lead male dancer for Woolf Works in NYC is now indicated on the ABT master calendar. Does anyone know if this ALWAYS follows immediately on from the finish of the NYCB Fall Season. I know it did last year - but just want to check if this is always the case. I'm a dedicated NYCB fan and attend the majority of performances but live in London. I've just set my dates/plans out for the NYCB '24/25 season and thought I would stay on a week after the Fall '24 season end to catch ABT - but want to make sure that it is in fact the week following so i don't mis-book my flight/accommodation dates. I am so upset that she's banished Bayadere, Corsaire & Raymonda from the rep but she could at least program Coppelia or DonQ. I love Swan Lake but it can't be the only Petipa ABT does anymore.
