  8. I am reading "Era of the Russian Ballet 1770-1965" written by Natalia Roslavleva; in it there is some mentioning of a ballet called "The Awakening of Flora." But then right after it would say "...The Sleeping Beauty." The thing that confused me was that it mentions a ballerina dancing the role of Aurora in "The Awakening of Flora," but then right after says something to the extent of the same ballerina dancing Aurora in "The Sleeping Beauty." Anyone know what the deal is here?

  12. Very very sad news... My best to his family and friends. He was dancing in Boston when I was there as a student at the BBSchool. I am fortunate to have been in his presence during Don Q and Sleeping Beauty back in 1993. He is a definite inspiration for any aspiring male dancer.
  13. Very sad news They have a lot of talented dancers. I wish all the dancers there the best in seeking new employment with a stable balet company or elsewhere.
  14. Ok, cool - so how would I find this copy??? Do you think it is still available???
  15. Thanks Mel- This friend also did say there is a video that has a version constructed as mentioned above...Do you know anything about this, or where I could find it? I have never heard of one, but always looking for new footage!
  16. I friend of mine said that the original production of Giselle has the wilis in Act II set in a ballroom, all wearing different costumes? Is this true?
  17. Yes, Paris Opera Ballet School's Coppelia would be good and it is not too long... Balanchine's Nutcracker would be good too, (with McCauler Culkin) it is narrated. Any Sleeping Beauty's or Cinderella's???
