  1. I had Leslie when I went to the Royal Ballet School's summer program in '99. In addition to being a good ballet mistress, she was a good teacher and a very sweet / kind person! (which is always nice)
  2. My friend has asked that I put this website up which is a promotion for a calendar starring Angel Corella and the men of ABT. I do not know if this allowed (to post links, I mean) but it is worth a shot. Check it out when you get a chance. I believe the calendar will be available in September 2004. 3. hey solor yes i can compile a list for you. i am not at home right now, but will work on it tonight and the rest of this week. i should do it for myself anyway, i find that by lending cds out - some do not get returned!!! anyway, i am working on the swan lake, because i want that copy back as well! the fourth act additions are beautiful! once completed, i will re-post on this. if you could, i would like to see what music you have as well...
  4. I love Maina Gielguld's Giselle! Beautifully constructed and well produced! The orchestration of the music is gorgeous! If you are in the Houston area, I strongly recommend seeing it next June!!!
  5. There is a recording of this version that I have. It is on the "Bolshoi" six cd series. I can get you label information if you want.
  6. I have seen the opera and it is beautiful. In fact, I may be dancing in it next year. There is a recording of the ballet Onegin available straight from Stuttgart! Many selections of the music also come from Tchaikovsky's operas Mazeppa, Pique Dame (Queen of Spades) and also from his "tone poems," including but not limited to Francesca De Remini (spell?)
  7. Hey Solor! Sorry, I have not been on this thing in a long time! I just today got back in the swing of things. Anyway, I NEVER got my CDS back and the girl who I lent them to has seemed to of disapeared. I am going to check with one more extremely reliable source who I am sure will have a copy of it. I will get him to burn one for me and then get one for you! I promise I will work on this ASAP and get back to you! I read in another forum that you said the Pas D'Odalisques (Corsaire) could be found on a cd titled something like "Ballets pour Petipa." I looked this up on Amazon but I think you have to bid for it. Do you have a copy of this cd? I am really interested in hearing the pas d'esclave. Anyway, we can trade our something. I do have lots of other ballet music if you have any questions etc. Let me know about Ballets Pour Petipa... Joseph
  8. Yes, as VRS said, I would check out the tour that goes to the Vaganova Academy. The web address is as follows: www.trips2russia.com Though, I think the tour is in progress right now or will be next week. But it is always good to check out for future reference. It is expensive, but worth it! (I went in 2002) This is the easiest, legal way I see possible of getting in to the school; unless again like VRS said, you have some sort of strong connection to a ballet / political figure.
  9. I think you will truly enjoy Maina Gielguld's Giselle! It is gorgeously staged and produced. (Well, it was in Boston anyway!)
  10. Ok, here are DVDs that I have and strongly reccommend! Paris Opera Ballet - Paquita (Janaury 2003) Paris Opera Ballet - Don Q (Janaury 2002) Jiri Kylian - Black and White Ballets London Festival Ballet - Swan Lake (Makarova's Version) I found all of these at Borders. (I think ?)
  11. Maina's Giselle is gorgeous!!!
  12. Hey Silvy: There is a recording. It is called "Les Ballets de Monte Carlo" It includes Ravel's "Valse Nobles et Sentimentales" and Gershwin's "Who Cares." It is an ARION label Hope this helps! Joseph
  13. Does anyone have the DVD of Giselle with La Scala ballet? (Ferri dancing Giselle) Is it good? Not meaning dance technique, but quality of the production, etc???
  14. Hey Francoise: Is the Paris Opera Ballet version that you have available in other formats (NCST?)
  15. I just bought this video online about 2 months ago. It was available at www.kultur.com. It is in VHS format, but after reading all these articles on Kultur transfering everything to DVD, it may be on dvd eventually. When I was in St. Pete in June 2002, Elena Vorontsova was teaching the third year class at The Vaganova Academy.
  16. Simon Ball, Frances Perez-Ball and Ilya Kuznakuv (completely wrong spelling of this last name, sorry!) are all at Houston Ballet.
  17. Yes, I am very interested in these videos! I have a few recent ones from 2000, but they are mainly the boys. I had a friend who graduated class of 2000. Ok, I will do some searching for some older videos. B)
  18. Ok, Camelia! No Problem... Still no response however from him!!!
  19. Hi Camelia! Yes, he is back in France now auditioning for some European companies. But, I have not heard from him in quite a while. Your thread prompted me to email him. Once I hear back I will get back to you. I don't think we are allowed to distribute emails on this board (or are we??) but I will give you as much info as I can!
  20. Does anyone have the music for this ballet???
  21. Hi! I am very good friends with Sylvain. He is no longer dancing with Boston Ballet.
  22. Yes, JBlste, a student did dance the role of "Amour / Cupid." When I was in it, I remember Jenifer Gelfand and Pollyanna Riberio dancing this role. The students who were the "corps de cupids" were also students in the 1993 version. In the Nureyev version that I just bought there are no children in this scene (I think?!?!)
