  1. Is this the "Frescoes" section, with four ladies (or 3?) ? Because I obtained a copy of this music (from a friend) from Universal Ballet Academy. So, you could try to maybe call them since there is no email address listed... Unfortunately, the music was on a audio tape and I am having trouble finding it at the moment.
  2. Hey ATM- I spent a lot of time last year transferring tapes to DVD. As I understand it, there are no copyright issues with the actual transferring process. However, some of my tapes (some of the Kultur ones actually) would not transfer over and I think this is because they may have put a block on it. I too transferred a lot of tapes from tapes that had been copied from commerical releases and the quality is just the same. I did in fact get rid of my tapes though because I was moving and it really created a lot of clutter. The tapes I could not transfer I still have and am planning on just getting them on DVD when each is released. Basically, if it doesn't transfer then there is an issue, so hold on to it - otherwise do not worry about any issues with it. (I am of course speaking solely of ballet related tapes.) In terms of movie pictures, I am not sure - I litereally got rid of all my commerically released vhs picture movies.
  3. Sleeping Beauty Act II? Interesting selection...
  4. Solor- You can catch Alina in "The Nutcracker" released in either 2001 or 2002 with the Royal Ballet, choreo by Peter Wright... She is Clara (or Marie/a??) There may be some other dvds out there too! In this new version of SB, does Carbosse try to stop the prince in Act II from kissing Aurora?
  5. Well said, Solor... I think sometimes people do not realize the value and expense of some of these items. But, I am glad to hear you have had a similiar experience.
  6. Great! I had this one and then let someone borrow it about five years ago. Have not heard from this person and have learned a good lesson about such valuable recordings as this one.
  7. I love high extensions; provided they are done in an aesthetically pleasing manner, as Svetlana does! (Just my opinion...)
  8. Should be interesting. I already have the La Scala version with Ferri dancing Giselle. I really like it too!
  9. Hmmm, I've never heard of this ballet "Chipollino..." Mel? RG? Solor?
  10. Yes Mel, I agree actually. By divertimento, do you mean the pas de deux? Maybe I have not listened to the whole thing?????
  11. Wow, thanks Dale! I certainly got more information than I bargained for!
  12. Are there any other versions of this short ballet besides Balanchine's? I recently heard the music for the first time and thoroughly enjoy it. Thanks!
  13. Hi! Some versions of Swan Lake use this piece of music in Act IV as a pas de deux for Odette and Siegfreid. I do think your idea is nice to have Siegfreid dance a variation to it at the end of Act I.
  14. Chris Wheeldon's "Corybantic Ecstasies" has a great opening...
  15. finally, i mean dancer's dream is great, but i am so excited to get the full version!
  16. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00000464...v=glance&n=5174 solor- is this the version you got?
  17. Will be very interesting to see how Balanchine's "Midsummer..." does in comparison to the "Midsummer" already in their rep choreographed by Bruce Wells... (I really enjoy Wells version)
  18. wow, it seems that miami is really getting more into the classics - don q! giselle i know has been performed before. i think this is a great idea and will look forward to hearing about these performances. in the upper room sounds exciting too!
  19. Solor- I believe that Elena Vorantsova is a faculty member at Vaganova School. (And, if my mind serves my right - she was the instructor of the third year class girls, at least in June of 2002!) Angelina, I think, but am not sure, is on faculty at the Universal Ballet Academy. The boy - no clue, and Elena's friend - no clue either. Hope this helps... But, it may not be completely up to date and accurate...
  20. Does anyone know, off chance, what Anthony Tudor told Sally Willson to do in order to help her dance better in the ballet "Pillar of Fire?" Someone asked me about this as a trivia question a while ago and I can not find the answer...
  21. "La Petite Mort", choreo by Juri Kylian
