King
If you have any idea of the whereabouts of any of these dance professionals, especially their e-mail or current professional affiliation, I'd sure appreciate the tips: Talal Al-Muhana Katherine Anderson Elaine Bauer Eleanor Bernard Carinne Binda Becky Blair Ciscoe Bruton David Bushman Sanson Candelaria Ron Cundiff Ron Cunningham Jerilyn Dana Kathy Devlin Dayna Fox Marjorie Hardwick Leslie Jonas Walter Kaiser Krystal Kaiser Lisa Massei Rebecca McLain Lorenzo Monreal Clyde Nantais Ellen O'Reilly Tracy Owens Alphonse Poulin Gregg Schramel Cydney Spohn Clive Thompson Mel Tomlinson Dee Dee Weathers Krista Welch David Wilson Nanci Woods Bonnie Wyckoff Thanks, King Douglas Link to comment
Leigh Witchel
Last I knew of Talal he was working with Amanda Miller in Frieburg. That's a while back. I may be able to get a message to him, though. Which Eleanor Bernard? If it's the one who danced in Indianapolis and Lexington Ballet, she's in Mobile at present. I can also relay a message. Carinne Binda and Ron Cunningham run Sacramento Ballet (or did as of '02) Last I heard of Tomlinson, he was an ordained minister down in NC (this was from a news article about a year ago.) I know this is an obvious suggestion, but with several of these people, try Google. Chances are they'll turn up. Link to comment

Most of these folks are featured on my website--I photographed them--and I just want to drop them a message to that effect. Some are old friends that I've lost track of. I know that Ron and Carinne are in Sacramento, but I don't have a good contact number/e-mail for them. The Eleanor Bernard I'm looking for is a graduate of Southern Methodist University. I've Googled all. King Link to comment
Leigh Witchel
That's the same Eleanor. If you give me your contact information off list, I would be happy to forward it on. Same with Talal, although my information for him is older. Link to comment
Leigh Witchel
Adding: Oh yes, that's definitely the same Eleanor. I worked with her the next year at Lexington Ballet. I loved partnering her, she was my perfect height! Link to comment
SharonF
Sorry--no new information here at all. Just wanted to let you know I am also looking to contact Krista Welch. I have no idea what happened to her after Dallas. I used to train with her and I'd like to see how she is. Link to comment
Brioche
Hello! I danced with Krista too, in Walnut Creek. Many of us here in the Bay Area have had a heck of a time getting any concrete info. Best, David Link to comment
Estelle
King, I don't know if you're still looking for all those people, but : -the following page lists Clyde Nantais as the executive director of the Boston Dance Company: http://www.bostondancecompany.org/id4.html -Alphonse Poulin is listed as a faculty member of the Julliard School (and also teacher for various companies): http://www.juilliard.edu/update/journal/po...504_Poulin.html -Sanson Candelaria used to dance with the Ballets Trockadero de Monte-Carlo, and unfortunately seems to have passed away in 1986 (a search in the catalog of the New York Public Library list obituaries for him in December 1986 in "Dance and dancers" and February 1987 in "Dance Magazine"). -Dee Dee Weathers is listed as a ballet teacher at Higher Ground Dance and Pilates, Anaheim, California: http://highergrounddance.com/faculty.html and she performed in several films: http://www.imdb.com/name/nm0915770/ -cydney spohn is listed as a board advisor of the North Carolina School of the Arts: http://www.ncarts.edu/ncsaprod/kenan/boards.asp and is a faculty member of Akron University: http://www3.uakron.edu/dtaa/faculty_staff.htm -Gregory Schramel (former Miami City Ballet soloist) and Marjorie Hardwick (husband and wife) founded the New Orleans Ballet Theater in 2003 ; however I couldn't find a web site for the company: http://publications.neworleans.com/no_maga...eatReports.html http://www.bestofneworleans.com/dispatch/2003-06-10/hot.html -Leslie Jonas stopped dancing at 34, graduated from Brown University and is now is a graphic designer: http://www.gdusa.com/people/2_01.php http://www.bestofneworleans.com/dispatch/2004-06-08/hot.html -David Bushman performs as a dancer and singer: http://www.agencegoodwin.com/en/bushman-d.html -Elaine Bauer is listed among the staff of the PNB school: http://www.pnb.org/pnbschool/staff.html -Tracy Owens is listed on that page but I don't understand what the page is (the top is in Dutch), I think it's a list of teachers: http://www.euronet.nl/~hjs/n4/docenten.htm Link to comment
Marga
This is the most recent info I could find on Clive Thompson (I googled only him because I took his classes in the 60s -- dynamic teacher!): Clive Thompson interview 2003 It's a lovely interview. Maybe the Jamaica Gleaner can tell you where to contact him. Link to comment
Amy Reusch
Thanks for posting this... it was nice to see some familiar names... it makes me wish all companies kept a "where are they now?" page on their websites so we could see where our favorites have gone on to. Link to comment
Marga
I have been looking for my first ballet teacher for years, to no avail. I would like to know what became of Karl Klauser. I don't mean the composer, whose name does come up on google, but the dancer, choreographer, and teacher who danced with the Metropolitan Opera Ballet. He would be about 74 years old. He opened the Dance Academy of Rockville Centre in 1959. I was one of his first students. The last time I saw him was 1973. He sold the studios to Marty Morginsky, who had taught jazz there, soon after that. One of my first teachers there was Marie Adair (who died in her early 60s), with whom I not only studied as a young teenager but years later, when she was hired by Harry Bernstein to teach ballet at Adelphi University. Did anyone here know Karl or any of the other dancers/teachers I mentioned? Link to comment
carbro
[Donning Moderator's Beanie] I just posted a reminder on a similar thread: For those with leads to other dancers who've lost touch, out of deference to people's desire for privacy, please keep the details of their whereabouts to a necessary minimum (or less ). If you know the whereabouts of someone being sought by a former colleague, please relate the particulars privately. Of course, if the information is on the web, it is perfectly okay to post a link. I'm sure you understand. Thank you. [Doffing Mod's beanie] Link to comment

Fra
Hello! I'm sorry I don't actually know if this topic is still working... I'm a dancer from Italy, and I'm looking for a ballet teacher REBECCA MC LAIN I don't actually know anything about her,.. She was my teacher's teacher. The only information I found out is: -She moved to Italy -She was ballet teacher and director at STAR DANCE ACADEMY, In Vicenza, (North of Italy) -She worked there at least 'till 1987 (or even some years longer), and then she went back to America. I've already looked for her on social networks, but I haven't found anything yet. I don't know how old she is, but she might be on her 50s, I belive. It would be very important for me to find out where she's working or living now, I've been trying to find and contact her for years...! If you know ANYTHING about her, please, don't hesitate to write back... it could help =) Thank you F. Link to comment

gggoodgggirl
I have been looking for my first ballet teacher for years, to no avail. I would like to know what became of Karl Klauser. Did anyone here know Karl or any of the other dancers/teachers I mentioned? I am writing this response 9 years after this was posted (stumbled upon it while doing a Google search). I was a student at the Dance Academy from 1965-1978 and worked there as the evening receptionist from 1976-1978. My mom (different last name than mine) was one of the main ballet teachers there during all those years and worked for Karl Klauser. He was my teacher over the years, although I did occasionally take classes from other teachers as well. I grew up with them all, as they were my mom's co-workers. I believe the studio was sold to Marty Morginsky in the late 70's or early 80's because it was after I left for college in the fall of 78. I do not know what happened to Karl, but I can probably find out. I am no longer involved in dance, but my mom is still alive and very connected to the dance community. Link to comment

Marga
Hi gggoodgggirl! It's gratifying to get a response. I check Ballet Talk every day so am always reachable here. The only other female ballet teacher from my time that I remember was Alice Green (or Green-something, sorry!). Otherwise it was Karl and Marie who taught ballet. You started at the Dance Academy the same year I entered Adelphi University as a dance major, so our paths just missed intersecting. I think about Karl Klauser quite often and would still love to know what he did and where he went after selling his studio to Marty Morginsky. Link to comment
lmspear
I was at Dance Acadamy of RVC too. It was from 1973-1975 during high school. I took ballet with Karl Klauser and got my first taste of Graham technique from Marty Morginsky. I have no further information about either of them, but would love to learn anything. My family is still in the area and my travels take me by the studio every once in a while when I visit. The name is different and the signage indicates that the main focus is now on ballroom dance. Marga
How nice to hear from another former Dance Academy student! As you mentioned, the studio is different. It hasn't been the Dance Academy for 20 years. I think it is/was called Silva. I took my 28 year old daughter there when she was just beginning ballet in hopes she could take some ballet classes (Silva advertised them) while we were visiting back home for the summer. We watched a ballet class and I found it terribly lacking. The two studios had been renovated into one large, gleaming studio with tables and chairs on one side for dining or something. It was indeed geared toward ballroom dance. Only when I went to the bathroom (the ante-room of which was newly decorated) and stepped through the door to the commode did I feel like I was in the Dance Academy I knew and loved. I never went back inside the studio on any of my subsequent visits although I still drive past it when I'm in the States. Link to comment
sparklingtonic
I am interested in knowing what happened to Yann Bridard with the Paris Opera ballet -- he was a principal dancer and does not seem to be listed on their website any longer -- I suppose there could be something wrong with the site but I do know he was approaching retirement age. If anyone can help me with this I would be grateful Link to comment
