  1. There are plenty of footage on YouTube that Jurgita Dronina is dancing Odette/Odile and she is fabulous. Such as this one. Well at least Dronina is guesting with English National Ballet's Japan tour, substituting for Alina Cojocaru in Coppelia this July.
  2. The casting at this company is so weird. I don't even know the guy who is doing Prince while two principals are doing Benno. The management here has no brains, I think.

  4. Alina Cojocaru has withdrawn from English National Ballet's tour to Japan due to pregnancy. http://www.nbs.or.jp/blog/news/contents/topmenu/2017-3.html (Japanese) Jurgita Dronina replaces her in Coppelia on July 8th, Maria Kochetkova replaces her in Le Corsaire on July 17th. And also Alina tweeted this. https://twitter.com/DancingAlina/status/864398493888151552/
  5. http://www.heraldtribune.com/news/20170506/sarasota-ballet-downsizes This doesn't look good.
  6. Yes, Royal Opera House has this great policy that you can return your tickets to the box office if you are unable to attend the performance or whatever reason, and if the returned ticket sells you can have your money refunded (with a small handling fee deducted). So that means there are always chances of purchasing returned tickets.
  7. No, unfortunately YouTube says this video is unavailable in my country (Japan)
  8. Basically my opinions are as same as yours, Bolero could be great by either male or female dancer. But recently Aurelie Dupont danced this in Tokyo in March and that performance was disappointing lacking much stamina and strength, her days as a dancer has been gone now. Bejart is also not my favorite choreographer, I also think many of his works are dated but there are still some masterpieces that stood the test of time, such as Firebird, M.
  9. But Bolero was first performed by a female dancer (Duska Sifnios), and Maya Plisetskaya is one of the most famous interpreters as well as Sylvie Guillem. You can see how different the work looked when you see the Duska Sifnios performance that pops up on YouTube.
  10. Thank you Sophoife, so lovely to hear about her farewell performance. It should have been so emotional. I follow her on Instagram so at least I can keep up with what she's up to.
  11. 2017-18 Season is announced. http://www.pathelive.com/programme/ballet-du-bolchoi-2017-2018 It mentions that Romeo and Juliet will be a new production by Alexei Ratmansky. http://www.pathelive.com/romo-et-juliette17-18
  12. Marchand is 192cm tall (sorry I have difficultly calculating into feet/inches)
  13. Charles Jude will retire at the end of the season after 20 years of directorship. http://www.leparisien.fr/bordeaux-33000/accord-a-l-amiable-entre-l-opera-de-bordeaux-et-son-directeur-de-danse-suspendu-23-03-2017-6791178.php
  14. Some information and news of Lincoln Center Festival https://www.nytimes.com/2017/03/22/theater/travel-ban-threatens-a-lincoln-center-festival-play.html?smid=tw-share&_r=0 Saburo Teshigawara will bring his "Sleeping Water" with his company KARAS and also with Aurelie Dupont.
  15. Trump Proposes Eliminating the Arts and Humanities Endowments https://www.nytimes.com/2017/03/15/arts/nea-neh-endowments-trump.html?_r=0
  16. I saw Nicoletta Manni as the Queen of the Dryads in La Scala's tour last year and she is a very very beautiful dancer with good technique.
  17. A simple question, what does "Zvezda" mean?
  18. Yes, absolutely. And the official Bolshoi website's URL is http://www.bolshoi.ru/ So at least they also call themselves Bolshoi.
  19. Thank you Josette and Katherine, so the male principal roster is rather thin now.
  20. The Playbill article says "Maddox, a former Principal Dancer with The National Ballet of Canada" but I don't think he has left the company, I thought he had taken sabbatical.
  21. Please correct the title of the thread to Bolshoi. Why Balshoy?
  22. it is in Japanese, but with some photos, report of the nomination of Hugo Marchand. (by the way, he replaced an injured Mathieu Ganio. Marchand was not supposed to be in this tour because he will be dancing in Balanchine's Midsummer Night's Dream in Paris next week) http://www.nbs.or.jp/blog/news/contents/topmenu/33.html
