    Gomes and ABT

    And this from Alessandra Ferri
  2. POB's Raymonda has not been released as a disk (although it could be viewed on Amazon Prime Video) and L'Arlésienne is not either (only TV broadcast)
  3. Program changes at the final triple bill, Cote’s Dark Angels is dropped and Kudelka’s The Man in Black replaces. https://national.ballet.ca/Productions/2017-18-Season/Cacti
  4. Here is a snippet of the documentary "The Paris Opera" which shows the press conference regarding the resignation of Millepied. (well the conversation on phone with Lissner telling Millepied to step back is not in this video) French with Japanese subtitles.
  5. You can see how Millipied was disliked by the dancers if you see the documentary film "The Paris Opera" which shows how he was dismissed. At the press conference, no one at the conference showed any sympathy for him. Also watching the documentary "Reset" will also give you hints.
  6. Some footage from the premiere and interview with Ratmansky
  7. 8. Isabella Boylston will be guesting at Paris Opera Ballet's Don Quixote. (December 25 and 28) https://www.operadeparis.fr/en/season-17-18/ballet/don-quichotte/distribution#head
  9. By the way, Obraztsova will guest in Asami Maki Ballet (Tokyo)'s Don Quixote with Dimitry Sobolevsky of Stanistavsky Theatre. http://www.ambt.jp/perform2.html She had announced on her official site that she was supposed to dance with Lantratov. http://www.evgeniaobraztsova.com/afisha.html
  10. Speaking about touring, NBoC will appear as guest company for the Hamburg Ballet Days in July 2018. http://www.hamburgballett.de/en/spielplan/play.php?AuffNr=147004 The program will feature works choreographed by Robert Binet, James Kudelka and Crystal Pite: THE DREAMERS EVER LEAVE YOU (Binet) THE MAN IN BLACK (Kudelka) EMERGENCE (Pite) This is an all Canadian program (not really interesting IMHO but it does have a concept) and I am sure the talent of Crystal Pite will stand out in this triple bill.
  11. I haven't seen Binet's works so I don't really have any right to say anything but a few of my friends who did see The Dreamers Ever Leave You at AGO said although it was not a masterpiece it was not bad at all. Some of the works I have not seen but heard from several of my friends in Canada that were terrible were Guillaume Cote's The Little Prince and also his Dark Angels. And they are commissioning another new work this season by Cote this season. That seems more troublesome. No doubt Cote is a brilliant dancer and a big star but commissioning works is another thing.
  12. By the way Paquette is replacing an injured Marchand in the current run of Agon.
  13. The over 40 ballerinas here are dancing very well, and IMO much better than the young dancers given the chances to dance the leading roles, not just being mature but having great artistry. But it is a pity that the principal dancers here who are supposed to be at the peak of their career are not given the roles they deserve to develop their artistry.
  14. One dancer mentioned here having more focus than deserved is a daughter of the ballet master. But also very senior ballerinas well over 40 are also getting lead roles here. (not Swan Lake but) It is problematic that the not so old or younger principals such as Lobsanova, Vanstone, Ebe (and the international star Dronina) are not getting enough opportunity.
  15. I live in Tokyo, and here no performances will be on sale without the cast announced before point of sale. It is impossible to sell tickets here without the casting, as everyone buys tickets to see performers they want to see. At least half price tickets before casting announcement seems so ridiculous, and there are performers in NBoC that I would never ever pay to see in a leading role.
  16. I also thought it strange that Teuscher was not given Odette/Odile. And also no Abrera.
  17. Can't agree more about this, (especially about the brilliant Lobsanova) and they had a corps de ballet dancer dancing Seigfried, while a principal Naoya Ebe was dancing Benno. So unfair. They have one of the greatest swans in the world Svetlana Lunkina and she was not given first cast.
  18. Well one year they discounted the tickets heavily before the casting was announced and when they did announce the casting (and the discount period ended) all the good seats were gone and you had to purchase tickets with the very expensive usual price. One thing about this company is that tickets are so expensive when they have a not-so-great lead.
  19. Casting has been announced for ABT's tour to Singapore March 2018 https://www.esplanade.com/festivals-and-series/dans-series/2018/swan-lake Dancers for Singapore’s performances 15 Mar, Thu, 8pm Misty Copeland Herman Cornejo Alban Lendorf 16 Mar, Fri, 8pm Hee Seo Cory Stearns James Whiteside 17 Mar, Sat, 2pm Gillian Murphy Alexandre Hammoudi Thomas Forster 17 Mar, Sat, 8pm Isabella Boylston Alban Lendorf Calvin Royal 18 Mar, Sun, 2pm Christine Shevchenko James Whiteside Cory Stearns *Cast subject to change
  20. The casting for this company as well as the repertoire is so weird that I have completely lost interest in here and would never travel to see them again. I had enough disappointments. There are some fabulous dancers but the direction is so puzzling, making this company one the most boring major companies in the world. And no one has reported anything on their Paris tour. I think no one here is interested.
  21. World Ballet Day by Houston Ballet, Class, Mayerling rehearsal, the damage caused by Hurricane Harvey.
  22. Les Ballets de Monte-Carlo section (Including Smirnova and Chudin dancing Maillot's La Belle) which was streamed inside Bolshoi live relay.
  23. Can't agree more about that. And the camerawork for the class was not good at all. NBoC's presentations are always the poorest among the participating companies, even though it is their 4th time joining this event. The camera was taking only a few dancers and not showing Svetlana Lunkina and other greats enough.
  24. So happy to hear this, although it was all pre-recorded material. They do have fabulous, world class dancers and their corps de ballet are one of the very best. Also, they did a small snippet of their morning class on their Facebook live and it is available on their facebook. https://www.facebook.com/nnttballet/
  25. Seems the Vaganova student Karina Soldatova who was fighting with leukemia has passed away. https://www.instagram.com/p/BZi_pHLhMBb/?taken-by=help_karina_soldatova What a tragedy to this beautiful young lady.
