No way to copy those, alas. EDITED TO ADD: He just posted a story from the Guggenheim Works and Process -- with a masked audience, so presumably recent. Back to my original question: I haven't seen him listed for Fall for Dance or anything else this fall in NYC. Thus my wonder if he's rehearsing something for the Met next spring while he has a little break in Berlin. (He just finished their Onegin.) Link to comment

California - I know that this is slightly off topic, but I attended four out of the five performances of Of Love and Rage at Segerstrom Auditorium in Orange County in March of 2020, skipping only the Saturday matinee. It was the weekend before lockdown, and I definitely saw four performances. Link to comment

volcanohunter
Daniil Simkin is leaving the Staatsballett Berlin. The company had been under interim leadership since 2020, but as of autumn 2023 its artistic director will be Christian Spuck. https://www.staatsballett-berlin.de/en/blog/onegin-abschiedsvorstellungen/181 The English translation is a little less clear, but of Evelina Godunova, Simkin and Yevgeniy Khissamutdinov the German version reads "die alle drei ihre letzte Vorstellung geben und das Ensemble zum Saisonende verlassen werden." abatt
ABT, please offer Simkin an opportunity to return to the Company. He is needed. Link to comment
California
It would be such a treat if Simkin performed in ABT's fall schedule at Koch in October (assuming they again do two weeks right after the close of the NYCB fall program. I do hope he turns up in North America again! Link to comment
angelica
Does anyone know if Simkin is joining another company or whether he will freelance as a guest artist around the world? Link to comment

abatt
Cornejo is quite old by ballet standards/years. They need a shorter virtuoso like Simkin. He could partner Trenary, Brandt and Boylston. Link to comment
California
I follow Simkin on Instagram, as I'm sure many of you do too. He just returned from several performances in Australia and is in Rome this month for a couple more. Not a hint of future plans. Let's hope he's negotiating something with ABT! Link to comment

He was a guest in Don Q in spring of 2022 at Kennedy Center and the Met. As I remember he was brought in to replace Whitehead after the latter's serious injury in December 2021 in Nutcracker at Segerstrom. But Simkin isn't currently listed in any capacity on the ABT web site: https://www.abt.org/the-company/dancers/ Link to comment
angelica
If ABT were to cast Simkin, I would definitely buy tickets to his performances. Link to comment

I forgot the name of it. The one that takes place in a sweet shop. Edited May 9, 2023 by abatt Link to comment
Marta
I agree with all who are hoping Simkin will return to ABT. He's a great dancer. If Jaffe offered him repertoire beyond what it had been, maybe he'd come back. Link to comment
NinaFan
It would be great if Daniil were to come back to ABT! He was still breathtaking when he danced with ABT last spring and fall. I remember seeing Daniil listed as principal guest artist at Staatsballett Berlin for maybe the last year or so. I guess that's what gave him the time to freelance all over the world. Whatever he decides to do, let's hope we get more chances to see him dance. Link to comment
California
If you're wondering about Daniil Simkin, he'll be in Melbourne, Australia for their Nutcrackers in December 2023. I am still hoping he will come back to ABT for spring 2024! https://fb.watch/mVrIumv2C0/ Edited September 7, 2023 by California Link to comment
volcanohunter
A presenter that specializes in galas needs a corps to do a Nutcracker. I wonder how it's going to be sourced. Link to comment
California
A selfie with Simkin and the ABT Studio company posted today in Instagram stories. Any chance he's in town prepping for the spring Met season? He did Lenski with the Berlin State Opera ballet last year in Onegin. Be still my heart! Link to comment
California
As per Instagram Stories, after several months in Australia, Simkin is now on his way to Tbilisi, Georgia, where Maria Kochetkova has been performing for some time. Link to comment
