According to the Ardani website, the Kirov will be touring Chicago, Berkeley & Costa Mesa (as YID pointed out in another topic) in the fall:

http://www.ardani.co...skybtouring.htm

No casting yet. Be careful to not scroll down past the initial list of GISELLES & DON Q, as the webpage runs into the schedule & casting of the Fall '06 tour.

Fans on the East Coast need not worry -- the Kirov takes its DON Q to the Kennedy Center a couple of months later but under the auspices of the Kennedy Center & not Ardani.

While any appearance by the Kirov on these shores is welcomed...I can't help but be a little chagrined that the Kennedy Center could not coordinate things with Ardani, e.g., bring something different -- such as a full RAYMONDA or ONDINE or a mix that would include reconstructed treasures FLORA's AWAKENING & CARNAVAL. Instead, America will get coast-to-coast DON Qs from the Kirov in a close span of time. The upside: Any run of DON Qs should include Evgenia Obraztsova, who was so unjustly omitted from the current City Center tour. Hopefully Genia will also be cast in some of the GISELLES on the upcoming Fall tour; I would definitely travel to Chicago for that...but they'd better not substitute The Unmusical Gymnast/spokesmodel for Carefree Panty Liners at the last minute. :dunno:

I wish they would bring the reconstructed Sleeping Beauty on tour, as well as Jewels and, you're right, Raymonda.

It's great they're bringing "Don Q" and "Giselle!" I hope they
showcase Alexander Sergeev as Albrecht. He's Gennady Selyutsky's pupil.
Reportedly, he just had a stunning debut opposite Obratzova
on April 4 :P.

No casting yet.

Casting was posted,
and LA in December with the NUTCRACKER added
..... should I move to CA?
.... and will Nioradze really appear?

...noticed that Tereshkina listed only ONCE... does Daniliyan really dislikes her ? ..... but the Danilyan or Kirov casting is unpredictable and fast changing as NYC weather...

Interesting that at Zellerbach, the program is listed as: Raymonda-Shades-Paquita.

Here it was Raymonda-Paquita-Shades, which seemed strange. They dance two ballets that pack a wallop at the end but chose to close the performance with neither of them. :smilie_mondieu: Closing with Shades made the program feel not quite resolved.

Somova is not the only Kirov female dancer whose panties can be seen under her tutu when she dances....

Casting for the fall '08 USA tour is now up in the Ardani site. They still list Nioradze although she is said (in Russia) to be officially retiring this summer...although that won't keep her from touring as a guest.

The shocker, as pointed out on another web forum: NO Obraztsova, even though she has triumphed as both Giselle & Kitri during the past year back home & in Tokyo. This is now the fourth major int'l tour of the Kirov that does not include Obraztsova (DC in Jan'08, NYC currently, UK in May '08 and now the Fall tour of the USA). I sincerely hope that she is looking for a new home unless she doesn't mind becoming the next Zhelonkina or Dumchenko.

From this Ardani Tour casting, we might infer the list of Kitris that we will most likely get here in Washington, DC: Novikova, Vishneva, Somova, Nioradze, Osmolkina, Tereshkina...although, in the end, I can bet that the Kennedy Center will see only Novikova, Vishneva, Tereshkina and Somova (four Kitris over the course of seven or eight performances).

I don't know, Natalia. With Vaziev apparently about to depart, there may be changes very soon in the Mariinsky policy - and after all, she's just been promoted to First Soloist. She also has a very specific repertoire in Saint-Petersburg, which she may not find elsewhere (Ondine, Flora, now Carnaval, notwithstanding Juliet, Giselle, Cinderella...). Could it be that her coach at the theatre doesn't have as much influence as some others', as far as touring is concerned ? It's all very sad, especially since she belongs to a kind of ballerinas that's becoming rather rare nowadays, along the path of Lezhnina or Zhelonkina.

Right, Azulynn. It gets worse - I've just realized that the Ardani tour also includes some Nutcrackers (Chemyakin version), yet another one of her ballets. So here we have a tour of the USA that features a repertoire of three of Obraztsova's best leading roles...without Obraztsova.

I agree that it is exasperating that Obraztsova had not been included in recent U.S. tours, but at least I was able to see her as Juliet when the Kirov brought it to the Kennedy Center last year. Do you think there's any possibility that her recent exclusion is due to scheduling conflicts? I remember reading that she had been guesting a lot with the Rome ballet. In any case, the fall tour is still a long way off, I hope we have the benefit of some magical casting changes between now and then. Although I'm already thinking about traveling to see Osmolkina & Lopatkina's Giselles, I would LOVE to see Obtaztsova's too.

Not at all. She danced at home during January's KennCen tours, as well as the current NYC series. She has not danced in Rome for over a year.

I will be seeing the Kirov in Costa Mesa, CA in October> Can anyone tell me which Kirov Giselles and Don Q's would be best to see? Would love any opinions/thoughts/advice.

Thanks!
