carbro
James Fayette, former NYCB Principal Dancer and husband of NYCB Principal, Jennifer Ringer, was the victim of a man on a stabbing rampage in Riverside Park Tuesday morning. Their two-year-old son, Luke, also suffered a wound. Luke received stitches and was released from the hospital. Jimmy, who subdued the attacker, remains hospitalized but was reported to have said, "It could have been much worse. All best wishes to the Ringer-Fayette family and other victims for a full recovery from both the physical and the emotional wounds. http://www.dnainfo.com/new-york/20131001/upper-west-side/man-stabbed-near-riverside-park-south-fdny-says http://newyork.cbslocal.com/2013/10/01/at-least-four-people-stabbed-on-upper-west-side/ http://www.nbcnewyork.com/news/local/Stabbing-Police-Victim-Riverside-Drive-Park-Manhattan-Ambulance-Suspect-225951811.html Link to comment
Alexandra
Thank you very much for that report, Carbro. (and for posting the links to press coverage!) The best news, of course, is what James Fayette said -- that "it could have been much worse." Link to comment

Drew
Very best thoughts to all the victims--but special thoughts for James Fayette, his son, and his wife (the wonderful Jennifer Ringer). Link to comment

GeorgeB fan
I was watching the evening news. I heard about the story so I wasn't paying much attention until I saw a photo of James Fayette {husband to current NYCB principal Jenifer Ringer} explaining he was the father protecting his two year old son when he was slashed in the chest by some craze homeless man going on a rampage stabbing three other individuals in Riverside Park on Tuesday, October First. His son Luke was also slashed in the arm but thankfully both father and son will be fine. Here's an article from The New York Post http://nypost.com/2013/10/01/2-stabbed-others-injured-at-riverside-park/ Link to comment
kfw
Dance Magazine is Wishing the Best for James Fayette and His Family. The brief article includes a lovely photo of Ringer and Fayette, probably taken in December 2011. I'm surprised NYCB hasn't publicly expressed sympathy and best wishes to the Fayette-Ringer family. I would imagine many fans would send their own wishes if the company made an address for that available. Link to comment
abatt
I agree with you KFW. They (Fayette and Ringer) have spoken to the press using their names about the incident using their names, so it's not like it's a secret private family matter now. I guess the other schoool of thought is that since this has nothing to do w. ballet, NYCB shouldn't post anything about it. Putting up good news (engagements, weddings) is pleasant; this is pure uglinesss and evil. Also, why advertise to the out of towners who don't follow local NYC news that the UWS can be a dangerous place. Link to comment

Isn't their slogan of the moment "we invite you into our world?" I guess everything is beautiful at the ballet. Link to comment
abatt
Well, it took some time, but the miscreant that went on the stabbing rampage in 2013, stabbing James Fayette, his son and others, has finally been sentenced. Sentence is 23 years. http://www.nytimes.com/2015/05/13/nyregion/man-sentenced-to-23-years-for-stabbing-five-in-riverside-park.html Link to comment
diane
thanks for the update on this case. I would have missed it otherwise. What a horrific experience for all involved. I wonder if it will ever come to light WHY it happened in the first place. -d- Link to comment
Helene
The early reports speculated that the attacker was mentally ill. There was no hint of that in this most recent article. Link to comment
