  4. Right back to Eden. Or in an adagio. Which is just about all I was thinking during the Pilobolus piece in which they slide across the stage naked on water-slicked tarps. Or closed fifth. (ouch ouch ouch) It seems that nudity on stage is more painful for the men. That sounds more like a dramatic use of nudity where Albrecht wasn't dancing.

  13. We've begun to fill in the calendar with the performance schedules from many companies, with more to come. To view the calendar, click the Calendar link at the top right of any page (edited to: the left-most link). If you click any of the items on the Calendar, there will be detail about the performance/program and how to buy tickets. There are a couple of things to note: * The New York City Ballet Winter Season will be posted when the new website is up, and we can add the appropriate links to the detail. * We're waiting for site updates from the Bolshoi and Kirov (English versions) and a number of smaller American companies; we'll add them to the calendar when they become available. * December is empty, because there are simply too many companies performing The Nutcracker. * Some cities (like Paris and Copenhagen) have more than one venue; please see the detail for the venue. On some days, the company will perform in both venues. * Before planning trips, please confirm the date, time, and program from the company websites themselves. These are subject to change. Also, one of the "features" of the board software is that once you submit an item to the Calendar, there's no way to search for it if there's a mistake in the date, and there are a few "floating" performances from my own entries. Many, many thanks to carbro for all of the work she's put into Calendar.
  14. There's a discussion about the story on this thread (in the Dancers forum): http://ballettalk.invisionzone.com/index.php?showtopic=20581 Thank you for making sure that all the NYCB watchers were aware of the article.

  17. Maybe this one fits into Richard's category of "romantic thriller." It certainly qualifies as a love story like its predecessor on the operatic stage, Die Walkure.

  21. Sadly, Google isn't much help in determining a current location or affiliation. However, over the past couple of years: * She was guest faculty for Ballet Academy East's (NYC) Summer Intensive in 2004: http://www.balletacademyeast.com/pdf/190Ne...tterMay2005.pdf (photo on page 2) * She staged two ballets for the Ohio Ballet in 2005.Raymond Variations (Feb): http://www.coolcleveland.com/index.php/Main/INKRM02162005 Grand Pas Classique (May): http://ohb.sitempower.com/site.cfm/current-performance.cfm * She was a coach for the 2005 New York International Ballet Competition (NYC): http://www.festivalballet.com/main%20%20te...ews_040405.html (scroll down) * She was interviewed in the August/September Pointe Magazine in an article called “STEP IN TIME -- Cynthia Gregory, former ABT prima, talks about what it means to be a ballerina.” She also participated in the Pointe Magazine-sponsored Ballerina Symposium at Nutmeg this past August. * She's an Honorary Chair for the upcoming (October 24) benefit for Career Transition for Dancers, "That's Entertainment," a gala that “will pay homage to dance as entertainment in our culture - a lively jubilee that highlights a variety of styles from Ballet to Broadway to Break Dance – with a side order of circus arts for fun.” (Big Apple Circus) http://www.broadwayworld.com/viewcolumn.cfm?colid=4585 There's also a note on the University of Texas website, where ABT has held a summer intensive, that former ABT dancer Jolinda Menendez "is currently producing an art documentary series called 'A Perfect Balance' for PBS that will commence with a biography on ABT luminary Cynthia Gregory." A search for more info about the documentary is coming up blank, and I can't find anything on the PBS website about it. http://www.utexas.edu/cofa/theatre/abt.html
