  1. In case anyone miss it or not available in your area, it will be broadcasted on PBS American Masters later this year.
  2. Whose Sylvia Mariinsky going to dance? Ashton's? I don't remember Mariinsky performing Sylvia.
  3. Your hunch could be correct. I haven't heard anything on the 6/12 & 6/14 Cinderella TBA castings yet, if you don't mind taking a little risk, I'd suggest you to go ahead to buy the 5/28 Bayadere.
  4. The documentary opens 2/5 Wed. at Lincoln Center, there will be Q&A sessions with Jacques d'Amboise & Arthur Mitchell after the 6:45pm screenings on 2/5(JdA), 2/7(AM), 2/8(AM): http://www.filmlinc.com/films/on-sale/afternoon-of-a-faun-tanaquil-le-clercq-nancy-buirski NY Times review: http://www.nytimes.com/2014/02/05/movies/th-unusualstory-of-tanaquil-le-clercq-artist-and-muse.html?ref=arts&_r=0 Interview with the director on WNYC: http://www.wnyc.org/story/nancybuirskisdocumentaryabout-dancer-tanaquil-le-clercq/
  5. Spartacus sold out completely last time, very high in novelty & curiosity score, and local Russians will come en masse.
  6. If you wait until March, tickets will still be available but the better seats may be gone. If I were you I'd go for the package deal now and sell the tickets you don't want later, there will be no shortage of takers.
  7. ABT has a spot for her RB scheduling permitting, it could be Bolshoi Don Q, or Mikhailovsky NY tour this fall, or all of the above.
  8. The whole point of the package deals is to encourage people to buy early and to buy more. I don't understand why the phone people is so on a mission to prevent patrons to buy more tickets. The sales prevention department at Lincoln Center must be the most successful and most innovative in the world.
  9. I think the best strategy is to order all the tickets you want when you have at least a set and let the software process your order, cross your finger and hope it'll go thru. And do not ask anyone to clarify the package rules when you order. That's what I did at the box office, I told her the numbers of tickets I wanted for each date in chronological order and the order went thru with 20% off the whole shebang. She's extremely pleasant and helpful during the whole process.
  10. Cali, I'd be upset if I were you. We're confused by the conflicting info. We didn't want to wait until late March to buy single tickets by then all the good seats will be gone, so we prepared for the worst and to buy additional tickets just to maintain the 1:1:1 ratio we thought the package deal required assuming that there would be no shortage of takers for the extra tickets. But in the end that's not necessary, we're extremely happy we got all our excellent seats at fantastic prices. I suspect the box office staffs did't understand package rules fully or interpreted them differently, or rules weren't written clearly, or it's to complicate to incorporate all the rules into ticketing software, who knows? I am familiar with second ring price structure because all of our seats are located there. The prices are $40, 55, 80, 120, and 175. All the $40 seats are in the double-letter section. $55 seats are at the extreme ends of C, D & E rows. $175 seats are A101-117, A1-11, and A2-12. $120 seats are A13-35, A14-36, B101-118, B1-7, and B2-8.
  11. I am disappointed Lunkina is not on the roster. Regarding the package discount, we got different answers from different people. One said Bolshoi tickets must be bought in set of 3 or 4 (3 different ballets & an opera at 20% off), another told us once you had a set of 3 or 4 you could get any additional Bolshoi tickets with package discount. I went to the box office during lunch break to buy about 50 tickets for 8 of us and found the latter to be case, 2 of us also want the opera, so all of our tickets are 20% off. And you don't have to buy the same number of tickets for each ballet once you have a set of 4. So the package discount is liberally applied. And you can pick specific seats at the box office.
  12. I just received the email from NYCB: We wanted you to be among the first to know that this season Jenifer Ringer, Janie Taylor, Sébastien Marcovici, and Jonathan Stafford will mark their retirements from the stage at three special farewell performances. New York City Ballet will celebrate the careers of these four principal dancers who have touched us with their dynamic performances full of dramatic passion and elegant chivalry. Seats for these performances are usually in high demand. Should you decide to purchase tickets to these events, we want to remind you, as a friend of the Company, that these performances are already on sale: JENIFER RINGER Sunday, February 9 at 3 PM Scheduled to appear in: Dances at a Gathering Union Jack JANIE TAYLOR & SÉBASTIEN MARCOVICI Saturday, March 1 at 8 PM Scheduled to appear in: Afternoon of a Faun La Valse JONATHAN STAFFORD Sunday, May 25 at 3 PM Scheduled to appear in: Emeralds Diamonds
  13. Saratoga tour is not listed on the Bolshoi site neither.
  14. I assume NBoC will hold N. America rights to The Winter's Tale, so we can rule out RB will bring it to the US tour?
  15. The British are coming, the British are coming. Cities the Brits plan to invade are Chicago, DC & NY, NY will be the last stop.
  16. When's the MT1 renovation scheduled to start? And how long the renovation is going to last (I assume the actual time will last at least 50% longer than the scheduled one)?
  17. Now that Svetlana Lunkina is a guest artist at NBoC, I hope she'll join the NY Tour with the company.
  18. NY Times update on the deflected dancers: they're doing ok.
  19. If questions are posted here, may be those who are going can field the questions to the panelists and report back?
  20. I'll be disappointed if Alice is all they'll bring. They are right next door, it's not like they need to move the sets across oceans and over mountains, plus many mixed reps need minimal or no sets.
  21. NBoC probably earns more money from renting out the productions than from the productions themselves.
  22. Assume the NYC tour will go on as planned, if the Saratoga tour turns out to be a hit, it could change the formula for all future NYC tours. It'll make NYC engagements more financially viable by adding on Saratoga as a bonus side trip.
  23. I hope ABT would swoop in and hire Asylmuratova & Zaklinksy as ballet master/mistress and to run JKO.
  24. It's unusual the co-producing companies are so close to each other geographically, usually they're a continent apart, some examples: Don Q: PNB & HET Firebird: ABT & HET Shostakovich Trilogy: ABT & SFB War & Peace: Mariinsky & Met Sylvia: ABT & RB Alice: RB & NBoC Cinderella: SFB & HET
  25. The SPAC engagement is an add-on side trip to the NYC main event, it's not economical on it's own. They may have to cancel SPAC if the NYC deal falls thru. But I wonder why they announced the SPAC tour before the NYC engagement is finalized, the SPAC announcement actually gives Lincoln Center more leverage assuming they're still negotiating. BTW, Spartacus sold out last time they were here.
