  1. Bolshoi Ballet at State Theater is completely sold out. There're some wheel chair accessible seats available and they will be released to general public on the days of performances. And they are not selling standing rooms and It's unlikely they will sell them but they may change their mind. I don't know why there're no performances on July 24 Thur. and July 26 Sat. matinee, they could easily sell out 2 more performances.
  2. Wishfully thinking is a rather diplomatic way to put it. I'd call it bait-and-switch. And thanks to California for pointing that out.
  3. That's my day-dreaming list with a dash of reality. Be real, even if ABT got a big fat check from Koch, do you think ABT would have enough time to rehearse all those new productions? Mod, should I start another thread (not a wish list) for the line ups that shows up in my crystal ball?
  4. Swan Lake, same old production but act 4 will be restaged with the complete act 4 score restored Bayadere, new production restaged by Makarova with 32 shades and act 2 divertissements(drum dance, water jug, parrots and all) restored Sleeping Beauty as announced Paquitta, co-production with Bavarian State Ballet Ashton Cinderella Raymonda, staged by Sergei Vikharev, borrowed from La Scala as part of the package deal with the new Beauty. La Scala gets the new Beauty DVD and HD broadcast rights while ABT can borrow its Raymonda, not that ABT has any plans for DVD or HD broadcast. Othello, Les Sylphides, T&V...etc.
  5. How often do Vaganova graduates get hired by companies outside the former Soviet bloc right out of school?
  6. There's a small commotion yesterday at the orchestra, someone bought her own booster seat, blocking the one behind. I hope this is not the beginning of booster seat arm race.
  7. McMillan's Manon is 150 minutes at La Scala, 160" at ABT. And R&J is 170" at Scala, 180" at ABT. If intermission at ABT is 20", then it's 15" at La Scala. So the new Beauty will be 2'45" long without intermission, almost the same length as Mariinsky's 1999 reconstructed version, which when performed at Met had three 20" intermissions and lasted 3'50".
  8. Now that Lunkina is a member of NBoC, any chances we'll see her in the fall?
  9. I also missed out on the opportunity because of the aforementioned snafu. ABT should coach LCF how to conduct event like this. When the responses are overwhelming to it's free insight talks, like the upcoming one with Hallberg, ABT moves the event from the usual List Hall to the main auditorium, and everyone gets tickets.
  10. Gaite and Wheeldon's 13 Diversions will be part the fall reps.
  11. The company will tour NY with Cinderella the week before Kenn Cen season.
  12. It depends. If your ticket is part of a subscription, you only pay the difference pre-dynamic pricing. For non-subscription ticket you pay whatever the current price difference is, at least that what I was told. I have one regular subscription and I bought all my other tickets as Make 3 or More subscription. So far I haven't been charged extra for any my exchanges.
  13. Are there any top post vacancies in any European companies in the near future, or even in North America or Asia? I wonder if the changes will affect mathilde froustey's decision to stay in SFB or go back to POB.
  14. The fall tour will be California and Canada. NYC will be on a separate tour in January.
  15. I am keeping my fingers crossed, Gillian is still listed as Gamzatti tomorrow. Vishneva, Murphy, Gomes - it's the first of the many dream casts for the upcoming Bayadere run.
  16. Seriously, a couple of cast changes and the whole company will go kaput?
  17. I am not aware of any reports regarding KM contract renewal, but Ratmansky contract was renewed thru 2023: http://artsbeat.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/04/27/alexei-ratmansky-gives-abt-10-more-years/
  18. That's why I am not voting because of exclusion of Ratmansky.
  19. My first choice Ratmansky is not listed. He'd be a shoo-in, the only thing is whether he wants the job. Another top choice of mine is Ananiashvili but with her own company and family being in Georgia it's long shot she'd take the job.
  20. http://www.broadwayworld.com/bwwdance/article/STAGE-TUBE-NY-Public-Library-Digitalizes-Thousands-of-Hours-of-Jerome-Robbins-Dance-Videos-20140403?PageSpeed=noscript#.U2ggB41OWUl It seems to mean we can watch the digitized collection online without going to Lincoln Center. I am sure there's software to prevent videos from being downloaded.
  21. Box office usually picks up considerably with approaching performance dates. I hope this doesn't discourage smaller companies from touring Lincoln Center, they just need to be mindful when picking dates and reps. SFB box office was pretty solid last fall when it's the only game in town.
  22. Now 25% off to buy both programs. Too bad I can't take advantage of the discount, I can only go the Sunday show, as the program and castings across the plaza is more enticing. That's the peril for ballet companies to tour Lincoln Center during the spring season.
  23. Some dancers already leak dates of their NYC performances. So I doubt Bolshoi will be canceled due to US-Russia tension. I hope not.
