  1. 1. Doesn't Estee Lauder have a relationship to the Met? 2. All of Misty's products are in the Met shop, addressing all ages. 3. Tods is advertising with Eric Underwood and K. Jenner/Bolle, so Jenner appears with ballet a lot. 4. I thought I saw a Dior perfume ballet ad a long time ago. 5. A pr agent once asked me if a client wanted to pay for placement, so that is always a factor. 6. Someone instagramed putting deodorant on his feet, so I guess scent is a big issue. Bless poor Mr. B - wet cats and dogs mixed with ballet stalls
  2. In this regard, are any rehearsals of Giselle open this year? Rehearsals are where I've done a lot of comparisons, and seen people on whom I wouldn't spend money.
  3. I have just read about the transposition, not addition. Did both occur?
  4. Wow, what a fundraiser that would be.
  5. C'mon, Helene, you know you can piss the farthest. (j/k, a high compliment)
  6. Well everything is beautiful at the ballet. No, really, I meant fans of bolle are accused of superficially caring only about beauty. Many marinsky trained ballerinas are described routinely based on appearance. Gomez's sex appeal is usually mentioned. But hallberg is either, I believe, inaccurately called a beauty, or his fans are not called out for attending to see his beautiful face.
  7. Justly. I should not skim over the word "not".
  8. Is this what people want or expect from ABT or is it the company's role?
  9. RB With Xiomara matinee. I think Misty may have matinees for school kids.
  10. Too bad Disney goers, school groups, movie viewers, Barbie buyers, children's book buyers, will not discover what a ballerina is and can do.
  11. LOL, traded mine in to avoid FB (seen three times already by default), but would like to check out Afterite and Harlequinade. Too bad they are not together (like the good principal/mediocre dancer pairings.)
  12. Old woman here, cannot see appeal, although tried. BTW, why is Mimi tragic? Sad, sick, dies - but not "Greek tragedy." Butterfly has it much worse.
  13. I bought the RB tape and paid to see SFB and watch WB Day and can't understand it.
  14. Sheer luck? I think it was hope, hard work, and planning. For example, Paulina Waski has been posting her regional Giselle for years and now is starting with Myrtha at ABT. Everyone discusses waiting for the "understudy opportunity". All dancers learn these roles in school, too.
  15. Yes, that is why I asked. I did not understand the (seemingly uniform) point of view that I have encountered. No need to persuade anyone in any direction, though. For example, elsewhere, I think nanushka (forgive me for not looking it up) mentions that most of ABT is not "world class", citing, for example, Hermano Cornejo. No one disagreed. Although he is not my favorite dancer, I think he is a top tecnician. He wowed with the Cubans at BalletNow in California and was breath-taking in ABT galas (although I prefer his DQ to his RJ). Nevertheless, she and others supported Hee Seo and Isabella Boylston as world class, I think without disagreement, when they have many detractors, especially here (although under other topics), who cite their faults and failures (some of which I disagree with), and cannot compare to, say, Svetlana Zakharova, Viktoria Tereshkina, Ulyana Lopatkina, Ekaterina Kondaurova, Diana Vishneva, Marianella Nunez, Lucia Lacarra, Aurelie Dupont, many NYCB principals, or older ballerinas.
  16. She is not like Ferri in that regard. Swan Lake would be excellent for her. We watched years of Myrtha and saw her excel as Giselle finally. I see no difference.
  17. All Robbins includes Les Noces?
  18. " As a showcase for Hallberg's beautiful lines, airy jumps and inward style of dancing, I can't think of any better piece than Ashton's Dance of the Blessed Spirits. " He is gentle an moving, but he seems to drag his feet, not float. I agree, Gomes has charisma and stage presence. He also has partnering strength and selflessness. Maybe that is why I never understood the hype elsewhere.
  19. I have seen Hallberg many times and cannot understand the hype. He cannot lift very well. He is very slight. He does not have a beautiful face. He seems very inward, rather than focusing on his partner. His book was very self-centered, too, as well as boring. (I can't believe what he said about Michele or that he thought leaving her last name out was meaningful. He also ignored half the company.) Half of what he said sounded like a cliche. He is always seemingly injured. I keep asking for enlightenment, but all anyone ever says is conclusory.
