SharonF Posted July 7, 2005 Posted July 7, 2005 Does anyone know where Shannon Lilly-Simpson has gone? (Former SFB)
carbro Posted July 8, 2005 Posted July 8, 2005 I don't have the answer, Sharon, but maybe someone else does. You might also want to check at our sister site, BalletTalk for Dancers. There are many students there, and if Shannon is teaching, maybe one will have a lead. Meanwhile, welcome to BalletTalk. Feel free to browse around. If you decide to stick around, you might want to introduce yourself on our Welcome Page and tell us a bit about yourself.
Estelle Posted July 8, 2005 Posted July 8, 2005 Thanks to google I found the following page on the site of the Danville Ballet Company (a pre-professional company of the Bay Area): http://www.danvilleballet.org/Pages/guests...ly-simpson.html Ms Shannon Lilly-Simpson is listed among their guest artists; it says she joined the Northern Ballet Theatre (in UK) in 1994 and then the Diablo Ballet (California) in 1997, the it seems that she went back to the NBT (I found some reviews on ballet.co.uk listing Ms Lilly-Simpson among NBT performers in 1998 and 1999). Also on the NBT web site, it is written that "[Nicola Cross] is now living in London with fellow ex-Northern Ballet Theatre dancer Konrad Simpson" so I guess it means the couple separated. [edited after some further web-research] It seems that between 1999 and 2004, Shannon Lilly danced with the French company "Ballet du Rhin", as I found her name in the following reviews: -in April 2000: http://www.alsapresse.com/jdj/00/04/11/SA/2/article_15.html -in June 2001: http://www.humanite.fr/journal/2001-06-04/2001-06-04-245277 -in April 2003: http://www.alsapresse.com/jdj/03/04/24/MU/9/article_50.html -in May 2003: http://www.ballet.co.uk/magazines/yr_03/ju...u_rhin_0503.htm (diary of Maina Gielgud) http://www.ballet.co.uk/weblogs/gielgud/archives/000012.html http://www.ballet.co.uk/weblogs/gielgud/archives/000006.html -in October 2003 : http://www.humanite.presse.fr/journal/2003...03-10-21-381012 However, she isn't listed amond the present dancers of the Ballet du Rhin. But SharonF, you might try to contact the Ballet du Rhink by email (ballet@onr.fr), since she still was there in the 2003-2004 season and so they might know where she is now.
Gina Ness Posted July 8, 2005 Posted July 8, 2005 Thanks, Estelle...I googled a bit out of curiosity, but didn't find as much as you did! I knew Shannon, as well. I was leaving SFB as Shannon was arriving. A very talented dancer and as sweet and nice a person as you would ever wish to meet. I'm happy to read that she had such a successful career after leaving SFB.
Paul Parish Posted July 8, 2005 Posted July 8, 2005 Thanks, Estelle, for all that legwork -- I too wanted to know. What a memorable dancer! She was a favorite of the audience here -- wonderful dancer, she somehow got you to identify your fate with her. In a ballet like "in the middle, somewhat elevated," she wasn't the ballerina, but it was Shannon you cared about....
Estelle Posted July 8, 2005 Posted July 8, 2005 You're welcome ! I'm stuck at home with a sprained ankle (nothing dramatic, but not the most convenient way to start one's vacations) so I had enough time to spend on google... The reviews made me regret I never saw Shannon Lilly on stage. Now I'm just wondering about where she is. Anyway, she had a busy career
Brioche Posted July 8, 2005 Posted July 8, 2005 Hello All - Shannon is living in the north of England (for now) as she retired last summer - at Ballet du Rhin in France. I believe she and Elizabeth Loscavio (in Hamburg) both, by chance, retired on the same day. Whacky huh? I see Shannon's mom from time to time, I'll ask for an address next time. Although I may have an email address buried somewhere. Best, David
SharonF Posted July 8, 2005 Author Posted July 8, 2005 (edited) David--Do you also know, perhaps, where the following are: Cynthia Giannini Michael Rios Krista Welch Edited July 8, 2005 by Helene
Paul Parish Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 David, thanks for that. Shannon Lilly and Elizabeth came up together, at Contra Costa Ballet as kids -- I see Mrs Loscavio from time to time - -she showed me a wonderful picture of Elizabeth with her new baby. very happy..

carbro Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 [Donning Moderator's Beanie] I'm so glad you two found each other! (I had a similar experience on this board.) I hope, now that you've made contact, you can talk directly via e-mail and keep other people's personal details (they may not want their lives discussed in this forum) between yourselves. For those with leads to other dancers who've lost touch, out of deference to people's desire for privacy, please keep the details of their whereabouts to a necessary minimum (or less ). Of course, if information is on the web, it is perfectly okay to post a link. I'm sure you understand, and I thank you for that. [Doffing Mod's beanie]
Brioche Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 Thanks Carbro and many apologies. SharonF is new here and can't be PM'd. Can't that "rule" be modified? I
Helene Posted July 9, 2005 Posted July 9, 2005 We can't modify the rule, but you've given her enough information that she should be able to find you.
Rogelio Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 Hello, my name is Rogelio I'm an old friend of Shannon I've been trying to talk to her for a long time now. If anybody can give me some imformation on how to reach her please let me know or give her my e-mail - rogelio502@sbcglobal.net - Thank You.
cubanmiamiboy Posted August 7, 2007 Posted August 7, 2007 Oh, wow...Now I'm curious about Shannon too...
JMcN Posted January 16, 2008 Posted January 16, 2008 I saw Shannon dance many times during her years with Northern Ballet Theatre. She was a glorious Juliet, Lucy Westenra and Giselle and she lit up the stage in most of the roles I saw her perform.
