  1. He was not premier danseur, but he would be not necessary. He is like Manuel Legris or Laurent Hilaire, an exceptional dancer who must be nominated young. He saved the performance replacing with an etoile, the part of an Etoile. I'm sad too for Benjamin Pech because I think he should become etoile, but the two years old nomination of Laetitia Pujol, without him, lets me think that he won't become etoile, I hope to make a mistake . But I'm glad for Mathieu, and all my hopes go to Dorothée Gilbet now, she is too promising like him and they would make a wonderful couple !
  2. Mathieu Ganio was absolutely wonderful tonight, he didn't make the little faults he made friday night. All the reception were Ok and he tried to make the portés with one hand at the end of the first act, the second is missing, but the first was short but it passed. It's really a future etoile that we see grow under our eyes. Mathieu is able to correct his fauts without make other fault. His acting is always interesting and Agnes seems to be happy to dance with him and change her play
  3. Naoko, for Parisian and usual French ballet lovers, Mathieu Ganio made beautiful debuts in this part. He is a future etoile . It's sure that he made some mistakes in variations, and Agnes is a few tall for him. But he has something I don't see since long time, and it's the great and pure Style asked by this ballet and Nureyev he has also this youth, this magnetism on the audience . He works with Laurent Hilaire and we saw all the details. It's sure that variation of third act lacks of something but his manege of Coupés jetés was one of the most wonderful I never saw in Paris. For me Mathieu Ganio is the same kind of dancer than Manuel Legris at the same age . Mathieu will dance two times again this evening and next thursday instead of Eleonora Abbagnato and Karl Paquette (they must dance 22 and 29 in matiny and the 26 instead of injuried Delphine Moussin). I think all these little mistakes were not important because he must not dance this part at the beginning, learnt it very quickly and was wonderful despite some little faults not important ! And very strangely, the pdd with Agnès Letestu at second act and the adagio of Grand Pas de deux were models of handsome and style . Mathieu will dance James in La Sylphide, in next june-july serial with Isabelle Ciaravola .
  4. I think that the rules to be a premier danseur in POB changed since some years. Before we had premier danseur who wasn't partner and danced almost character parts ! Now the premier danseur dance as etoile (our etoiles get older and don't dance all the parts they dance before) and must be excellent partner, they dance all the great parts where partnership is very important. I think it's for this reason, that Emmanuel Thibault has never be promoted in superior level ! It's sure than when he dances romantic or academic solos, he is very good, against he is not good in modern dance, and you must not ignore that POB repertory has too many contemporary works . As Juliette said, Emmanuel is not an actor too, and I think he has not for POB direction a prince look, it's evident that for POB, look has a great importance :green: ! I think if POB direction wanted to rank him up, he will make . We must not forget that Emmanuel was sujet in 1992, after six years as School of Dance (one year by division) and three years in corps (one year by grade). It's 12 years he is sujet and all the different directions never promoted him  . Only Yann Bridard and Jean-Guillaume Bart were in corps before his entry. All the new premier danseurs are all entered in the company after Thibault entry (Moreau, Carbone, Paquette, Pech). I think it exists also internal reason that we officially don't know :shhh: !
  5. The lonely record of Concerto barocco I know is the german captation of this ballet but the way to record is awful, with too many close pictures.
  6. I think Estelle that we should see this cast on the next season Premiere where Sonatine must be danced.
  7. Aurelie began to become an artist before her deep injury, but now since she recovered, she became this wonderful artist whose we saw some sketches before. She has intelligence of the parts, musicality. Last february, she was the most beautiful Giselle of the serial and one of the best I saw since 20 years I go to POB !
  8. No Djb, no film by Dominique Delouche were realised in DVD yet. It makes so many beautiful documentaries as this one on Violette Verdy, we saw Lucia Lacarra learn Liebeslieder Walzer, a documentary about Yvette Chauviré with all the etoile of these last twenty years, Sylvie Guillem, Monique Loudièes, Isabelle Guérin, Elisabeth Maurin, Marie-Claude Pietragalla and so on. One of my favourite choreograph is John Neumeier, I had his "Illusion like a Swan Lake", I love almost all the POB DVD especially Romeo and Juliet in Nureyev Production I prefer far away to MacMillan's !
  9. Carbro, I must say as a French reader of your review , I'm really surprised by your comment about Aurélie Dupont and Manuel Legris . They dance so often together, I never saw a difference between them, perhaps, is she a few tall for him, but they are one of the most beautiful couple of POB  . Concerning Aurelie , she is suffering from foot since several weeks, perhaps it can explain the no difference between pointes and not. I know she wanted too many dance this part despite her injury.
  10. All depend of what you want to see, Silvy, if you want see contemporary documents or old documents. Could you say what you prefer, because the choice is not exactly the same  .
  11. After the Ballet de Marseille crisis, several person choose to create a website devoted to the dancers, the teachers and all the Dance community. It's a French website called Ethique et danse You must go on this website, read it and speak to all the person concernated by the dance problems in School of Ballet, Troup and so on. I hope Estelle will be explain better than me the meaning of this association.
  12. Theorically Mathieu Ganio must dance with Agnès Letestu 14 and 17 may, Dorothée Gilbert and Emmanuel Thibault 23.
  13. Some information are known for the cast of Don Quixote, two great hope of POB, Dorothée Gilbert and Mathieu Ganio will dance the parts of Kitri and Basilio, unfortunately, not together. Dorothée will be dancing with Emmanuel Thibault whose it will be the first great part at 30 years, andMathieu will replace injuried Jean-Guillaume Bart with Agnès Letestu. Too many young dancers will be dancing other parts as Sabrina Mallem and Eve Grinsztajn who will dance Street Dancer, Mathilde Froustey will dance Cupid as well as Juliane Mathis, Julie Martel will dance Bride maids. Aurore Cordellier will dance Queen of Dryad as well as Laurence Laffon. Acosta and Bolle are guest for five performance. Carlos Acosta will dance with Aurélie Dupont 29 may, 1st and 3 of june and Roberto Bolle will dance with Agnès Letestu 28 and 31 may.
  14. Nureyev didn't include variations for Flower girls in the 3d act in his version. Here the Flowers girl are called the Kitri's Friend and they appear only in first act and 1st table of 3d act, they are on the wedding but just as spectators. It stays one variation which is the variation for the bridemaid. It's the second variation with grand jetés of the original Petipa final pdd. Concerning the cast, it is made with the best dancers of POB, Aurélie Dupont was nominated Etoile on this part, but I think she was not at her best in this video. She was recorded some week before her long injury of till one year ! Manuel Legris is Basilio as Nureyev wanted to see him, not high jump, but very beautiful execution in the pas, one of the greatest Basilio I never saw in Paris. Jean-Guillaume Bart was a superb Espada, I prefer other dancer in this part, but technically, he is absolutely perfect. I think, that for myself, something lacks in his play ! Marie-Agnès Gillot, our newest Etoile is wonderful as Street dancer, I would prefer see her as Queen of Dryad, because she is one of the best in the world to make "grands jetés", but she is really amazing, it's one of my favourite dancer. Delphine Moussin dances the queen of Dryads with Poetry and Lyrism, she is beautiful. Clairemarie Osta is a cute Cupid. Karl Paquette is a gypsy a few tall. I think the "manege" of sit-pirouettes is not mad for a tall dancer. Fanny Fiat is absolutely ravishing as Bridemaids, with precision. I think it's really a good version of Nureyev production. One regret, it's that it was not recorded when we have again the Georgiadis sets and costums. I think the production was more original. the conclusion is you can buy it closed eyes. I don't think you will be deceived by the dancers. I forgot the most important Jean-Marie Didière is unforgettable as Don Quixote, he is sad but never ridiculous. Often I find the character is near the big dope, and it's not a dope for me, it's a dreamer, a tall dreamer.
  15. I have an old movie with Verdy, Van Aroldingen, I think it's also Martins, Bonnefous. I don't recognize all the dancers. Against I adore this ballet, every time I saw it. It's a Balanchine very different of his ordinary ballets, nearer of Robbins' In the Night mood. But I must say that I'm inconditionnal fan of Balanchine and Robbins !!! I saw twice at Paris with Agnès Letestu/Marie-Agnès Gillot + Jean-Guillaume Bart/Yann Saiz, AurélieDupont/Dorothée Gilbert + Laurent Hilaire/Nicolas Paul (POB sujet), Delphine Moussin/Isabelle Ciaravola + Manuel Legris/Benjamin Pech, and Laetitia Pujol/Nathalie Riqué + Benjamin Pech/Christophe Duquenne. The both cast were very interesting, I think I prefer the second but I love also the first cast . I adore this ballet about feelings, walzes and so on, the first part evocating some XIX century "Salon" and the second more timeless with the pointes. I love the mood of this ballet. But they made a bad choice to mix it with contemporary works as Kelemenis, Brown's Glacial Decoy and Preljocaj. Romantic mood was not at all in the modern mood of this mixed bill. French audience was shared between enthousiasm and boring  !
  16. I confirm that it's a broadcast performance that I have, but if someone is interested he can contact at my mail cschemm@club-internet.fr Officially only, Les enfants de la danse and in the short version is published.
  17. Romeo and Juliet exist but not in commercial tapes, it was broadcast with Haydée and Cragun, I have it if you want, you can contact me at cschemm@club-internet.fr
  18. Hi José, could you contact me at cschemm@club-internet.fr I have too many French, American and other countries tapes, and I'm interested by title you quoted !
  19. I know it exist several documentaries about POb School. You have in these last years "Les enfants de la danse" - 1988, but it also a documentary in 1979 where you see Eric Vu An as Hen in "Les animaux modèles", Carole Arbo and Laurent Hilaire in "Graduation ball". I have also a performance of POB School televised in Japan where you had "Two Pigeons" with Sylvie Guillem as Gourouli, Concerto en Ré too. It's from 1981. But the documentaries they have in Japan are not even the same than in Paris or even passed on French chanel.
  20. I'm wating for the Gala to celebrate "Entente coridale" 100th anniversary which will be at Palais Garnier at september 29. It's THE event of the parisian next season. ROH and POB principals will dance in this evening. They don't speak at all about it, I hope they will present Ashton pieces during this evening as they make for their US tour !
  21. I completely agree with you Estelle. It's a exciting season. Just a little think for the people who couldn't love Ashton's ballet. But it's so interesting to discover ballets no staged since several years.
  22. Thanks Naoko to post our petition on japanese forum. I think we have nothing to loose or to be frightened, sending the petition  .
  23. POB spectators wrote a petition under form of "open" Letter to the Direction against the classical and neoclassical crisis in POB due to the next Season. For sign this petition, you must print it and send it to the indicated mail address ! Petition Thanks to all the foreign spectators to send it More we are numerous, more we could have a 2005-2006 season more exciting. By the moment, text is in French unfortunately, but we will make translate it !
  24. Naoko, as Juliette said, Marie-Agnès will not be cast on Kitri this year. She is cast, in the same time, on the title part of Mats Ek' Giselle. It will the first time she will dance the leading part. Before she just dancing first mad spirit, and Bathilde/Myrtha When they make season, they don't think that Ek's Giselle and Don Quixote were scheduled exactly in same time, and too many etoile won't dance in the two ballets because of risk of injury  . For men, only Jean-Guillaume Bart should dance Basilio, Nicolas Le Riche, José Martinez, Manuel Legris are all three cast on Giselle. Roberto Bolle and Carlos Acosta will dance with Agnès Letestu and Aurélie Dupont. Marie-Agnès was absolutely amazing as Kitri, I didn't think she was made for the part because she was tall, but she knows how play with her arms, and so on, and she became one of my favourite Kitri ! Against I don't love her in Paquita, I prefer Clairemarie Osta in this part or Agnès Letestu !
  25. Congratulations to Marie-Agnès, she was Etoile in the heart of too many spectators since a long time ! For me she is the complete dancer, as well in classical where she was a fabulous Kitri, a beautiful Nikya, or in modern where her tall size deserves completely this kind of dance !
