  1. Alexandra, Concerning K Moore, the only time i saw her dance a "classical" role was when she danced the jilted bride(?) in Snow Maiden. I thought she was wonderful in the PDD in the last act.Didn't she dance Hagar? Joe
  2. Giannina, Wes Chapman is the AD of Albama Ballet. You were probably thinking of Kathleen Moore who danced a lot of "character" roles( very well too) during her time at ABT. Joe
  3. MicheleWiles is dancing Hagar in Pillar of Fire in ABT 's visit in Cleveland in early March.Any thoughts, anyone? Joe
  4. I enjoyed the program very much esp the excerpts from Napoli.Even w/out the scenery, the choreography is such a joy to watch.Even without the help of list of dancers in the excerpt, T Lund stood out among the men.I'll leave the technical descriptions to others but his performing of the steps are so "clear".It was unfortunate that he had that not very attra ctive costume for the William Tell PDD. Among the women, G Boesen(?) made me want to see her in the whole La Sylphide.T Holjund was also a standout in Triplex(if it was her).It would have been nice to see her in FlowerPDD. It is a pleasure to go to the NJPAC( A bit of commercial from a NJ resident)The staff is very helful and pleasant and parking is cheap(compared to Lincoln Center). The main floor was almost full.I hope they continue to book ballet there. Joe
  5. Jennifer Stahl of California is one of the finalist in the PDL competition.Finals is tomorrow afternoon(Swiss Time)There is a live internet broadcast. Check w/ PDL website. Good luck to Jennifer. Joe
  6. Did anyone brave the freezing weather and attended the Raymonda Symposium at the guggenheim? Joe
  7. J M Careno is dancing Solor w/ Irina D., not Maxim. Sorry for the error. Joe
  8. The DC casting is in the ABT website. Irina D and Max B. are doing thier ist Bayadere(i think). Joe
  9. Didn't Mr. B. choreographed something on the Roma symphony? Joe
  10. It was in last Sunday'sNYT Arts and Leisure dance section. Joe
  11. Good news!! M Meunier was reported( in another ballet site) to have danced in ABT'sNutcracker in California. She danced the Snow Queen solo"authoritavely and dominated the stage". Joe
  12. What happened to Symphonie Concertante? Joe
  13. Dale, Thanks for the info regarding the brochure. Can't wait for the Balanchine tribute casting. Maybe, Kevin M. ,have been waiting for this program to finally give us some pleasant surprises for Ms M. and P. Joe
  14. When did they change to the present Karinska costumes in use now? Joe
  15. Roma, That program is certainly worth jumping for joy. Thanks for the info. Joe
  16. Dale, Any news on the Met season? We usually get the Met season brochure at this time or am i imagining it?I hope the delay is not related to the Movado funding or to the search for "international-class" ballerina. Joe
  17. Ms.Fang(along w/ another Chinese dancer) were among the winners that year and were listed in that years winners list. However, both names were gone the following year. There were no reasons mentioned. At the end of the webcast, they were among the prize winners(along w/ Y Kajiya). I have always wondered why.Anybody knows? Jeannie? Joe
  18. i did not see it but Natalia Makarova danced Hagar. There are pictures of her w/ G Young and Paolo Bortoluzzi in her "Dance Autobiography" book.I guess A Tudor did not like her performance since she did not dance the role again. Did anyone see her? Joe
  19. The Prix de Lausanne webcast where Ms.Fang danced was in the year 2000 and not 1990 as i had previously posted. Sorry for the mistake. Joe
  20. I'm not sure if it is still in the Prix De Lausanne webpage but there was a webcast of the 1990(?) finals which already showed her talent. She danced the dream solo of Raymonda. Unfortunately, one has to watched most of the webcast to find her solo. She and Yuriko Kajiya were among that years winner. Joe
  21. She trained in Shanghai Ballet School.Yuriko Kajiya,an ABT corp member, also trained there. Zhong Jing won several gold medals in the Lausanne,Paris, Helsinki and Shanghai ballet competitions. Joe
  22. Sorry,i meant the 1st version. Joe
  23. Dale, It's the November issue. It is the 2-act approved by Ashton before his death.I think the Royal is doing that in the 04-05 season. Has anyone seen that version. Any thoughts. Joe
  24. In the new Dance magazine, K Mckenzie is quoted that ABT is "in the talking stages" of a full-length Napoli and a coproduction( i guess w/ the Royal ballet) of Ashton'sSylvia. This(Sylvia) is something to look forward in the coming seasons. Joe
  25. [Note from Alexandra: I moved these posts from the RDB forum. Joe's post was made in response to an RDB press release that I posted there announcing that a new production of "Napoli" by Tim Rushton (a rechoreographed, updated version) would be presented at the 2005 Bournonville Festival.] I hope this is NOT the Napoli that ABT is planning to produce w/RDB's F Anderssen. Joe
