Looks like things didn't work out in Rhode Island. Sarah Lane just posted this on Facebook:

The circumstances @schoolofballet.ri did not work out. I have given the organization my utmost care, and I wanted so much to nurture the students through their educational journey. I am saddened to leave every single one of them. Of course, I gave the organization my indefinite dedication until they find a new school director, but that option was not taken. I only wish them the best. Sending love to the company members with whom I had the pleasure of working, as well. 🙏🏻

What is it with ballerinas who can't just curb their social media use to "appropriate" posts only? I'm a professor who had a rough tenure case, and believe me, I have had plenty of times I'd love to throw shade at multiple organizations/administrations, but I don't, because I recognize my ability to be employed also requires being discreet occasionally, even when I'd love to be ranting.

Lane may not be "ranting," but this doesn't seem like a very well-considered post. At least Bouder is still (as far as we know) an on-the-payroll principal at a major company. Who's going to hire Lane now?

Lots of self-sabotage and cringe moments characterizing her career over the past few years. I fear for her future prospects. She's at the end of her dancing career but in the greater scheme is only 39. She did some certificate in nutrition-coaching according to an old Instagram post; maybe she'll do better in that industry?

Luis is probably getting close to aging out of the ABT corps by now, but it looks like he does film work on the side: https://www.linkedin.com/in/luisribagorda/

Yeah I'm not a fan of the constant complaining. I adore Sarah as an artist, she was my favorite dancer at ABT. But I don't like her habit of using media (both social and traditional) to rant at perceived wrongs.

She was my favorite dancer too, and I still miss her terribly.

Ironically, I watched Black Swan again the night before she posted this and couldn’t help but remember her going to the press lamenting the lack of credit she got for Portman’s dancing. Add in her Pointe magazine article on Cornejo and now this. She’s positioning herself as someone who is difficult to work with and who lacks discretion. Not everything, even when you’re right (or think you’re right, whichever it is) should be made public. I also fear for her future prospects.

Lane's Giselle was definitely on par with the best of them.  Her Manon was also exquisite.

I agree completely.  I also loved her in Ratmansky's Sleeping Beauty.  I think that was the last  time she danced with Cornejo.

What was the gist of the Pointe Magazine article on Cornejo?

Here's the money quote:

What were the circumstances that led you to leave ABT?

After the 2019 season ended, for the first time in my career I asked Kevin very respectfully to not pair me with one particular partner ever again. He was consistently injured and calling out of rehearsals, and never in class. It made it hard for me to perform my best.

Soon afterwards, my casting changed—I only had three shows for the following Met season. Kevin had been happy with my performances initially, but shortly after I made this request he backtracked and said that my partner gave an amazing show and I didn’t. I felt disposable, like as a woman I had no voice. But I knew in my heart that I had done the best season that I could do.

Sarah Lane is performing Nutcracker with Brooklyn Mack at Festival Ballet Theatre in southern California. I've also been wondering what happened to him and whether he'd consider rejoining Washington Ballet with a new artistic director.

Maybe he could be the new AD?  And if he has a good experience with Sarah guesting, perhaps he would offer a 1 year contract to see if she can finally settle well at WB?

I genuinely hope for both dancers to finish strong in their careers.

Edwaard Liang has already been named the new AD of the Washington Ballet, arriving in spring 2024. We don't know what relationship he has had with Mack or Lane, but it would be nice to bring in both of them, even as guests.
