(But admittedly not the calibre of choreography Cholly Atkins brought to The Temptations.) I find romance when I start to dance in Boogie Wonderland ... Link to comment
dirac
Thanks for posting, ABT Fan. Sigh. No dancer or choreographer -- again. At least Tilson Thomas is there. Cheers to Ronstadt, whose range is rather wider than the Times piece suggests. Link to comment
sandik
And Sesame Street has hosted a multitude of dance artists (says the brightsider). I'm very glad that Ronstadt is getting this recognition -- as Dirac points out, her career has been really varied, and she has tried to honor her heritage as well as her generation. Link to comment
canbelto
Sesame Street deserves the honor for the excellence it has brought to television and also the variety of cultural icons they have had guest. Also for repeatedly enduring attacks that it "promoted" some sort of agenda. Link to comment
dirac
Sesame Street is great but I have misgivings about the KC honoring TV shows, particularly ones not connected to the high performing arts. Link to comment
sandik
The Kennedy Center honors have always gone to a wide variety of artists, both "high" and "low" Link to comment
lmspear
Maybe it's time to revive this thread: The Sesame Street Thread. Link to comment

It's hard because I like Sesame Street as much as anyone, but it's a slippery slope. All of this year's nominees can be justified individually - the Honors have never recognized an R&B group before, for example. It's the larger pattern that concerns me. Link to comment

I understand your concern, and I think it is a trend that we've seen developed over time. Link to comment
