I GET TO SEE PETER BOAL DANCE APOLLO ONE LAST TIME!!! :D

Please, oh please let there be no cast changes!!! :):beg::beg:

I know it would be too much to ask, but won't it be welcome if Peter Martins would let Boal dance the full-version. Could you imagine the welcome grasp from the audience if the curtain rise and there seating high in the sky Apollo's mother about to give birth to her son! I know, too much to ask, but oh how wonderful it would be!!

I think it would be nice if there was a board rule that no untoward comments on casting are permitted before a performance. Maybe at least we can have an unwritten rule. :yahoo:

I like the idea of no "untoward" comments, especially since one can hardly review a performance that has not occured. But I do not think discussing casting per se -- even making skeptical remarks about casting -- is always untoward. This is a board with many fans of Veronika Part that has nonetheless had civil discussions about whether or not she is appropriately cast in Piano Concerto no. 2. That is a performance that has yet to occur. To return to Apollo, Yvonne Borree is an at times quite lovely dancer (in my opinion) whose casting has long baffled many of us ... This is also a board in which issues of "emploi" have long been a theme--which is to say issues that necessarily blend into discussions about appropriate and inappropriate casting. (I assume the board administrator's will decide what the "rules" should be...and when something is untoward...)

I agree with Drew. This board is for intellegent (and polite) discussion about ballet. We welcome intellegent (and polite) discussions regarding casting. I would wish that, when discussing casting, that we do so with sensitivity to the dancer as a person (the dancer 99.9 percent the time has nothing to do with the decision to cast her/him in a role) and to use concrete examples in arguments.

I just stopped by to check the casting at the theater, and Soto is out all week, repalced by Evans in the Barber and (I think) Neal in Union Jack. Sonata and Interludes is replaced by Tarantella. I hope this is not due to an injury, and if it is, not a serious one.

Looks like they recently updated the site, as well.

That's too bad. We have so little Soto left already.

And you'll get to the Theater and the white paper will fall out of the playbill...

There was a thread on this here, I wonder if they should post the casting anywhere but in the theater. For the most part, I don't really care who is dancing I'm interested in what they are dancing.

Really??? You don't have preferences??? I certainly have preferences, and debuts, while they don't always provide enough motivation to get me into the theater (depending on the rest of the program) usually at least pique my curiosity.

Actually, I'd really like to see Sylve in something. But then, I haven't seen Ansanelli either, so... it's all good.
