  3. I've seen two separate interviews with Justin Peck in which he directly states he's not interested in becoming AD because he prefers to continue his creative work in choreography. He said this in an interview he did with CBS Sunday Morning several months ago, and he said it again in the recent NY Times article regarding the Broadway revival of Carousel. Unless he's playing hard to get, I take him at his word that he is not interested in the job.
  4. Ethan Steifel is never mentioned in this topic, but he has all the credentials they are looking for.
  5. Additionally, there were no promotions at NYCB this past season. Harrison Coll danced so many lead roles this season with distinction, but he is still in the corps. I'm sure there are other examples as well. Is this interim team planning on promoting people, or are they waiting for the new AD to come in. Even if they start interviewing in Sept 2018, I doubt that a new AD would take command until Sept 2019.
  6. I'm surprised how quickly this show is closing. It must cost a lot of money to run, but the show somehow never attracted a huge audience.
  7. Carousel is closing on Sept 16. It looks like Ramasar and Pollack may be returning to NYCB sooner than expected.
  8. The ticket service charges became a bonanza for City Center for Fall For Dance. The ticket prices are relatively cheap, because corporate funding subsidizes most of the cost of the presentations. Most people buy online, because the tickets sell out in a matter of hours. The facility fees plus the handling fees add up to almost the cost of the ticket itself.
  9. Feb 8 is one of the "Art Series" performances. The only way to get advance tickets for Art Series dates is if that date was included in your standard subscription package. Art Series dates cannot be purchased on Create Your Own subscriptions. The subscription brochure gave a list of Art Series dates. Art Series seats usually go on sale in January .
  10. I don't see any problem with what Macaulay did. He is a private citizen in addition to being a dance critic, and he has rights of free association and speech. There is no conflict because he is not reviewing a performance. The possibility that he might be reviewing a Mariinsky Apollo a few months from now is not a conflict. Personally, I'm grateful that someone with knowledge is passing on valuable information that might improve a performance. To the extent that his coach may tell Parish and the others to perform it the ugly, improper way on purpose, it would then be up to the dancers to make their choices on how to proceed.
  11. LeCrone is doing Choleric in 4Ts, and Reichlin is doing 2nd movement in Symphony in C, both of which are on the same program as Serenade. I presume that's why they needed a different dancer to perform Dark Angel in Serenade.
  12. Finlay was also doing the first movement. Is Finlay he injured? At Saratoga they had Gordon fill in on an emergency basis int he first movement on short notice.
  13. https://www.nycballet.com/NYCB/media/NYCBMediaLibrary/PDFs/Press/Casting/Copenhagen-Aug-15-19-2018.pdf The casting for the tour to Denmark has been announced. Some interesting casting. Tyler Angle is debuting in the first movement of Symphony in C. Most interesting is that Emily Gerrity is debuting in the Dark Angel role of Serenade. Maria K. is back from injury. I'm sure this trip to Copenhagen is going to be very strange for the company, the interim directors and the presenters given the departure of Peter Martins, and the circumstances surrounding his departure.
  14. Yes. I wish she would come back to ABT for a guest appearance.
  15. I wonder if Ferri will return in the fall season for AfterRite.
  16. The promotions do not go into effect until Sept. 1, 2018. That's why the website does not reflect the change in status of the promoted dancers yet.
  17. If Ferri decides to come out of retirement for a Manon, Cornejo could be her partner. Either Cornejo or Bolle. Ferri indicated a few years ago that she wants to return to that role, which is easier than Juliet.
  18. I think it's supposed to be a kid friendly matinee, so in totality the program is shorter than a normal program.
  19. They need male principals, immediately. They already have a lot of principal women, so I doubt Trenary or Brandt will ascend to principal in 2019. Murphy did very well this season, so it seems unlikely that she would retire next season. Since Abrera has been a principal for so little time, I doubt McKenzie will force her out at this juncture, but you never know.
  20. I read Mearns's instagram, and she mentioned that she did have a mishap during the 4T's.
  21. Did Reichlin replace Maria K. in the second movement of Symphony in C?
  22. Such a senseless tragedy.
  23. https://www.nytimes.com/2012/05/30/arts/dance/american-ballet-theaters-production-of-la-bayadere.html Here is the Times review with a fascinating photo of Vasiliev and Copeland. Every picture tells a story.
  24. According to Bouder's instagram, Joseph Gordon replaced Catazarro in Symphony in C in the first movement. It was Gordon's debut in the role. Did anyone see the performance? Who replaced Gordon in his scheduled performance in the third movement?
