  1. http://www.vvf.org/content/events/vail-international-dance-festival/2015-ballet-blast.aspx The Vail International Dance Festival welcomes the Compañía Nacional de Danza for the first time, joined by Colorado Ballet, BalletX, a selection of international ballet stars, and another Festival newcomer, New York’s nascent BalletCollective – all brought together for a diverse evening of ballet, from classic to contemporary, with music by the cutting edge string quartet, Brooklyn Rider.
  2. Shklyarov knocked me out in "The Little Humpbacked Horse" when the Mariinsky brought it to the Met on tour. He was such a vivid, full-blooded presence, aside from technique.
  3. PNB announced that they are taking orders for a limited edition book of 25 photos of Carla Korbes by Patrick Fraser. Price is $24.95. http://www.pnb.org/GiftShop/Books/CarlaKrbesBallerinaBook

  5. I worked with a couple of people who were from Juneau originally. It always sounded like an interesting place, although I'd be looking through the windows, too Good luck to them both -- what a family adventure!
  6. I don't think Michaela DePrince's journey could be considered boring by any stretch of the imagination.
  7. A reminder that other discussion boards, including dansonomie, are not official sources for BA!
  8. First weekend casting is up. Three dancers who weren't in "Swan Lake" are cast for this rep. 11. With three performances, you can mix it up and try at least two sections. Balcony is as high as I'd go at the Met for ballet, while for opera, I'm happy to live in the Family Circle.
  12. I've always been partial to the Dress Circle, especially for big corps ballets, where the patterns are clear.
  13. Do they verify who purchased the tickets before they do exchanges? If I want to exchange a ticket to PNB or purchase using a subscriber discount, whether online, by phone, or in person, they bring up my account and log the sale against it. In the future, given ABT's tract record, I'd try to find a subscriber friend to buy my tickets in the first place.
  14. Teuscher looks gorgeous in that photo. Many thanks for the clip of the fouettes. I love how she extends her leg all the way to the side and is quite even in its placement.
  15. Here are some tweeted photos by ABT: Diana Vishneva Dvorovenko and Beloserkovsky Shevchenko Copeland
  16. Do you mean, she allowed herself to be photographed on the red carpet? Did they have to be invited to have their picture taken? Were there a bunch of ABT dancers who were not allowed on it? If I were given the opportunity to be the fly on a wall, I'd pick a wall where I could hear a lot more interesting things than this.
  17. If they're velvet, yes. If not... Dvorovenko looked spectacular.
  18. Misty Copeland, Irina Dvorovenko, and Maxim Beloserkovsky were among those in "Town & Country"'s photo gallery from the ABT Gala: http://www.townandcountrymag.com/the-scene/parties/news/g1304/what-to-wear-to-the-ballet/?src=spr_TWITTER&spr_id=1454_182570289
  19. I'm guessing the shipload of Don Q costumes and sets are long gone I would have loved to see "Debonair" again. PNB just tweeted a photo of Carla Korbes in the Lang: https://twitter.com/PNBallet/status/600708238963675136
  20. This article in "Vogue" has a slide show with photos of decorated pointe shoes by noted designers, as well as a few costume from the exhibit at the Metropolitan Opera House: (scroll) http://www.vogue.com/13261508/ballet-slippers-abt-75-anniversary-exhibition-hamish-bowles/
  21. Many thanks, tomorrow! I didn't get the impression from an Ivor Guest history of Paris Opera Ballet I read that the ideals of the Sun King's court were first and foremost in the minds of the company for very long.
  22. I think this is my favorite Balancing Pointe podcast so far: nearly one-and-a-half hours with Iain Webb: http://balancing-pointe.com/79-iain-webb-artistic-director-sarasota-ballet/
  23. According to an article that Marina Harss wrote for the June issue of "Dance Magazine," the "Swan Lake" will be done by Ballet Zurich in February.
