  1. Thanks Rich and everyone for all the wonderful report, I now wish I had seen it for myself but I am hoping she will be one of the return guests in the future. I am guessing though many tears will be shed tomorrow night...ticket in hand and so are the tissues.
  2. Thank you for the info fondoffouettes I believe you might have something there about the ballet for each. It might have been too that they had both amazing dancers on one day for the same ballet, I was quite disappointed in that myself.
  3. I agree this is not cool, not cool at all, unless the money goes to the dancers' fund to provide coaching, maybe a fund raiser idea there for Moore (joking). Just curious if this happened to Herrera or Reyes tickets too? Or is this just the draw Kent has.
  4. Sold out show and so glad I have ticket in hand too! Bringing lots of tissues as I am sure these will be needed.
  5. Thank you so much abatt for this info and I can certainly understand why the video was removed.
  6. Thank you California and did see this myself but couldn't believe it myself, but since this are non-profit companies all salaries are public information, so I am taking back my question of disbelieve. IMO, I hope that whomever is chosen next in line would take care of the homegrown dancers and using the fundings wisely to help those who are doing the work.
  7. I guess my post was deleted for some Rules & Policy issues but basically California and abatt has covered here in better verbiage than I. I am curious about the salary differences if that is indeed true, either way, I didn't even know Moore made over a quarter of a million while dancers weren't given raises to make ends meet, especially in the NYC living standards. I hope whomever is chosen next would really consider beneficial to the ones who are doing the work to make this company the great one it once was as abatt mentioned.
  8. Couldn't have said it better myself abatt, exactly my point but you did a better job clarifying. Which leads me to believe the comfort level of partners casted together. Plus, rehearsal time allowed for new partners since this would be a first, I believe, with Copeland and Hammoudi.
  9. Like vagansmom, I cannot comment about the particular performance since I wasn't there either, but I have to admit surprise about Amour's comment about Hammoudi, this doesn't sound like him as I have seen him in past R&J with Seo and they were so connected, this may be an issue of whom he was casted with, this can happen. I felt his acting was absolutely enthralling in Othello so I don't find his acting poor whatsoever. As for the lifting, again, this may be his partner and that is unfortunate for him. I know that if there is insurity on the partner then there is reservation in every movement, that alone can cause much anxiety that can lead to cautious appeal on stage.... just my two cents.
  10. They did post a warm farewell on social media but it seems so far nobody on BA was there, I have always loved Staton's work with the company, plus they have two of my favorites from the ABT, Jared and Yuriko! The weather has not been their friend and now with an impending storm with more flooding, I do wish them well and hope this will not dampen the remainder of their season.
  11. In agreement completely, he's named everything else so this would be an easy switch LOL. Definitely great to wish for more coaches as suggested by bingham! In regard to comments on videos, I would think it would be wise to film these shows, even for record keeping or reviewing choreography, so it shouldn't be hard to release a few for the general public, I love being able to see the Bolshoi as I don't have the luxury to get to Russia myself, and I am sure many outside the US would feel likewise about getting to their local theatres to see a ballet. Revenue and wider audience around the world.
  12. This is indeed a wish and I third this Imspear wish! Talent should be nurtured and not housed.
  13. I concur and would never want that to return, even though there are flaws in this production, it is IMO far more entertaining and I just feel this is still a "work in progress" especially since this is the first year. I am sincere when I mentioned in my earlier post that there can be some modifications to fix several of the issues, but then this is quite subjective and many may not agree. It also seems that many of the dancers did better as the days go on, so that would lead me to believe more rehearsal time is needed and I don't think they have this luxury like most companies who have permanent homes with stages to do this. I recall an earlier comment about jamming 9 months into 8 weeks, perhaps this is the issue? I will reserve my judgement till the next time and hope Ratmansky continues to refine this.
  14. After a weekend of playing SB myself due to disagreements with a certain meal, although I cannot claim the “Beauty” part, I hope to catch up to some of the entertaining and insightful thoughts about this SB. After all said and done, I would have to say I am in agreement with a few comments about the Garland Waltz, I feel that perhaps this can be “thinned out a bit”, the idea of less is more comes to mind. I am not one to ask for it's removal or change it, but a few less dancers so it doesn’t feel so conjested on stage, and it may just let the dancers dance and the audience actually see their moves vs them seemingly running into each other. Then there is the case of wardrobe causing malfunctions with dancers, too much fabric and otherwise, IMO perhaps a few extra pieces in costume creations can be reduced to give the dancers more freedom of movement? I can certainly understand even some of the most talented ones show slight difficulty in handling so much fabric while trying to show us their technique as we have come to love with less material. I know this is what was done, but again, modifications is not asking for full change. Again less is more, less clutter ... more room to show off the dancers. I know there have been a few disappointing posts about Teuscher too, she is a beautiful dancer and I have always loved her as Myrta in Giselle and think with the right coaching she can perform that role as well. I do have to say that even if she didn't deliver what some of the Lilac Fairy expectations, I do feel Teuscher demonstrated the Candide/Sincerity fairy gesture beautifully, as did Waski, both projected the thoughtful and sincere movements to reflect the characteristics required for this variation. In response to vagansmom about the ABT school, indeed quite a few of JKO students have come up through the school if you look at their posted list, of course the ever amazing Hallberg! Actually, the “future list of ABT” as mimsyb mentioned too of Brandt, Shevchenko (ABT Studio Co.) and Trenary all came from the JKO brood, and since names are mentioned I would just like to add Waski as one to watch IMO. According to her bio, Waski was selected at 16, that has to say something about the training of JKO, since I believe that is quite a young age to begin a professional career, although Misha did hire Paloma at 15, but then again that is quite a while ago.
  15. Unfortunate to hear about Zhang as I recall him as the Golden Idol a year ago in LB, he was amazing! I often wonder if there is enough partnering coaching time for some of these dancers. Looking forward now to R&J week!
  16. I do hope you are correct in your impression mussel, in the most sincere way I am not sure nostalgia or just funding though, since NYCB seems to have so much interesting updates each time I look, I love theire videos about each dancer, to get to know them and their work better, but this is subjective and might not work for everyone.
  17. With all these issues on this new Met site, I wonder if my own wishes that ABT should update their own site might be a good idea. I have to say I love the NYCB site, it is so fresh and easy to manneuver. Maybe that is what the Met is trying to do but isn't just quite there yet? I guess we are all part of the test this season.
  18. Couldn't agree with this comment from Jayne more. As the season goes on with this "breakneck" schedule, even the more seasoned dancers seem tired in their steps, as many have mentioned about the disappointments with even wonderful dancers as Sarah or new soloist like Devon, whom IMO are beautiful dancers in their own right, perheps they are all just over rehearsed and pure exhaustion with this schedule IMO. This circles back to the fact that the Met is not a home unlike so many companies who have their home base with stage availabilities, as Houston who now have an amazing new home and own stage year round. I recall a number of years ago, when the economy was better, there were talks about a permanant home for the ABT, but I do wonder if donors pulled out since that never surfaced again. It is IMO a travisty since this is supposed to be our Nation's company, but in name only.
  19. I will attempt to help you with this although it migh be what NinaFan said about browser, forgive me if I am not much better. if you see the page with the Orchestra, Parterre lists then just click on one of those level choices and you should get the seating page. I do use Safari so perhaps that might be the better browser to use? I know what you mean about getting this unnecessary stress for the day and can't blame you for giving up, just wonder how many have done the same. I agree too that the Met doesn't care since ABT is basically renting their space, I would calll and let ABT know this mess for sure!
  20. Agree with Natalia and several other posts about talents from the JKO school: Waski, Trenary, Brandt, Baca, Giangeruso and many others. Just hope the AD realizes he needs to nuture these talents like Martins do for SAB dancers, instead of spending more funds on guests.
  21. I know how frustrating it can be macnellie, and took me a few days to get used to this new website, but it does work once you get there. If you click on the show you want, there is a popup in red on the right of the page "Buy Tickets", if you click on that it should bring you to the different dates and times saying "from $20", just click on the "select seats" and it should bring you to the different tiers, if you click on any one level, you should be on the page with the seating chart where you can choose your seat. I feel your pain and wish you luck. Maybe if there are issues with many of us, we should begin a petition!
  22. Good point on this vagansmom, still remains the unfortunate state of this wonderful artform controlled by big money, as in recent issue with San Jose Ballet and now Ceder Lake Ballet. Lucky for NYCB with PM in the helm holding strong.
  23. I would just like to add to the Jewels discussions, that I had the opportunity to see a young dancer, Paulina Waski, perform sapphire the week before La Bayadère. I thought her movements were precise and very clean, especially her entrechat six. I then saw her again in the last evening show, before LB, as the Candide fairy and felt her overall presentation for both were quite the standout. I look forward to seeing more of her.
  24. In agreement that if they are not doing anything to nuture their own, we might just see more at the exit door. ABT should know that they are not the only company in the country or for that matter the world. Yes, the prestige of being in NYC or being the Nation's company may be attractive to many, but if I was a dancer I would wonder if it is better to sit on the sidelines for this prestige or dance and get the coaching to improve? I read somewhere a while ago that KM and the artistic staff seems to use other companies to be their training ground for whom they hire, like they did with Whiteside vs nuturing Jared to get promoted. Maybe this makes sense to save on coaching costs for the in-house talent? With the financial issues I have been reading in several comments, it seems they want guarantee sell outs or you are just overlooked as a talented dancer. It is sad since many dancers don't have the PR branding or money to back them up.
  25. Indeed pound foolish vagansmom and I feel they need the NYCB model to guide them. That is what I would say "short sightedness" on the part of the AD or in the case, perhaps too much board influence. I have to feel and wonder for the homegrown dancers. NYCB has it right and I think they need a Peter Martins to make things right.
