I'm curious how and when contract renewals happen for Stafford and Whelan. They were both appointed in 2019. How long are contracts? I feel like Stafford was a fine stopgap measure for a tumultuous period of crisis at NYCB - both Martins' departure and covid - but I'm not excited about him at the helm for another five years. He stabilized the company and paved the way for a successful 75th anniversary, but I don't believe he has the vision to define the company's next chapter.

How does one obtain a standing ticket? NIght off at the box office and only if they are sold out?

Regarding the 75th Anniversary performance, I may have misunderstood, but I thought there were to be cameos from former company members. Was expecting the casting to offer some hint of that.

It's not LaFreniere on the cover. Emilie Gerrity posted a photo on Instagram of herself and the campaign imaged and expressed her delight.

Couldn't agree more about the value of having former dancers return. The City Ballet podcast discussing Allegro Brillante notes that Adam coached Tiler and Roman for this season's performances of AB.

For those who saw Copland Dances last night, what is the purpose of the "hazmat suit" type covering the dancers put on? I saw some snaps of this on NYCB's instagram feed.

Might it have been Gabriella Domini? In two nights of performances over the last week, I have found her easy to spot amidst many new faces in the corps. She also danced in Donizetti on Thursday. However, as we are missing head shots for the newest corps members and apprentices, it's become harder to match an on-stage face with a name in the program.

Thank you for sharing this performance schedule for Tess. Although a donor, I did not get this email. I did, however, receive an email from NYCB announcing her retirement performance.

I feel for Claire, too. When she was a student at SAB, Martins selected her (along with Silas Farley) to demonstrate choreography during a special presentation in honor of Balanchine's birthday. I viewed her as someone that Martins had his eye on. However, Emma has emerged as a stronger dancer and that has played out in casting in recent years. I'm not sure if it was under Martins or Stafford, but I viewed it as significant when she was cast in Barber Violin Concerto. Three principals and Emma and she held her own.

It's Mira Nadon. She posted the same photo on Instagram. I could see them giving Mira and him the Black Swan PDD from the Swan LaKe 2 program. Great opportunity for NYC to showcase up and coming talent while giving the one act to principals.

Would Megan's new book be good for a teenager who dances? My god daughter has seen Megan dance and am wondering if the approach to the book might offer some helpful approaches to a teen for dance and life.

No information on Sara. She has been silent on Instagram since early November where she often provides personal and professional updates.

What a wonderful night for Unity Phelan! I have seen Wendy and Maria in the role and her performance was on par. There was a luminosity to her performance that was transcendent. Time for a promotion. Personally was hoping Stafford might announce promotions on opening night, but am hopeful they will come sometime this season.

More casting shared via Instagram. Lauren Lovette writes that she looks forward to dancing "After the Rain" with Preston Chamblee. Happy to see her taking on new roles in her final season. I wonder if she approached Stafford and Whelan about taking on Western and ATR.

Tuesday 1/29 performance: Corps member, Mira Nadon, replaced Isabella LaFreniere tonight in the Mozartiana corps. She was the standout of the four women. Beautiful carriage and length. I hope to see more of her. I'm normally a Janzen fan and find him to be an attentive and elegant partner, but his solos were slightly awkward. The tight footwork wasn't effortless. And, have to agree with what others have said about the corps looking a little sloppy. Some early and some late in Serenade. Great to see Lovette back on stage who brings an ethereal quality to the role.
