  1. The rest of the casting has been released on their website. Only Dorrance's piece has yet to be cast. Also, Other Dances casting has been switched around. Lane/Cornejo are now cast on Fri, 9/26 (previously on 9/28). That's the ONLY piece Lane has been cast in. One ballet; one performance. https://www.abt.org/performances/master-calendar/
  2. He says in his post that he will be replaced. "The “New York Times” will announce my successor before long. I don’t know when or who that will be - but it’s certainly my understanding that a new chief dance critic will be appointed." I hope that doesn't change.
  3. I wrote that quote, see below: I misinterpreted that in the complaint. My other sentence, which was a separate thought, "I'm sick to my stomach", still stands in regards to everything the defendants are accused of.
  4. Welcome! I hope you continue to enjoy your ballet classes. It's never too late to start, for health benefits as you say and for overall enjoyment!
  5. Re: Finlay, Catazaro & Ramasar. They are grown adult men who should know right from wrong and were working professionals until they were fired (Ramasar/Catazaro) or resigned (Finlay). They were not prisoners in a dungeon, with no access to the outside world, no education, no social interaction, no responsibilities.
  6. Thank you. And I amended my other post to say it’s opening night, not gala night.
  7. OK, I've read part of the amended version (honestly, I skimmed a lot of the legal jargon). Students, too? I'm sick to my stomach. Happy opening night.
  8. Right, but as you mention as well, why weren't they added along with the donor and the other details in the first place? I realize no one here may know the answer, but that's strange to me. Not being an attorney, though, maybe this is common procedure...
  9. I haven't read this yet, but why was this amended now? Is this typical of complaints? Shouldn't all of the details been outlined in the original complaint?
  10. Honestly, that’s what I thought too!
  11. I agree that something will be lost, at least to me, if they leave the Met completely. Though I am also in agreement that the Koch is better in some ways for ballet/ABT (better acoustics, fewer seats to sell, etc) there is nothing like the grand and beautiful Met with its red carpeting, spiral staircases, and the star chandeliers that ascend into the ceiling signaling the show is about to start. If they decamp to the Koch and it helps them financially and artistically and keeps them in NYC for a longer season, then I'd have to support it. But, I'd also greatly miss going to the Met for their 8 week extravaganza.
  12. I too found this hilarious! I definitely needed a good laugh in this otherwise very serious and mind-blowing situation/thread. Adults have no excuse. I wonder if Ramasar and Catazaro are going to release public statements (besides what they've already done) or give interviews explaining their sides. Or, how is it that they're going to tell their stories? Will they sue NYCB?
  13. Wow! So Finlay was going to be fired anyway. I have to say that I agree with this. I couldn’t imagine any of these guys (or Ramasar or Catazaro after their suspension...) returning and dancing/partnering with women.
  14. Wow. Not good. However, given that it's so hard to fill the Met, and that so many of us notice less-than-full attendance, maybe this will help in some way. (Trying to look on the bright side.) I wonder if this will mean a good-bye to the one week (or less) that we get of repertory? This whole thing is unfortunate for the audience, but, I think the dancers who get so few performing opportunities in the full-lengths are really going to suffer.
  15. The Hong Kong Ballet will have some special guest artists for its production of Giselle starting next month in Hong Kong: Marcelo Gomes: 10/26, 10/27 Sarah Lane: 11/4 matinee Matthew Golding: 11/3, 11/4 It's not listed who their partners will be (presumably they will be members of HK Ballet). Julio Bocco will be guest coaching the production. If anyone attends, please report. http://www.hkballet.com/en/Whats-On/Productions/Giselle-2018.html

Sarah Lane of ABT (and I believe her husband and fellow ABT dancer, Luis Ribagorda) and Lauren Lovette of NYCB are vegans (and are open about it on their public-facing Instagrams). It is do-able for athletes, apparently.
  17. Not for nothing, but there are at least three ABT corps dancers who list their title as "Ballerina" on their public-facing Instagram accounts. When professional corps dancers do it, that only fuels the media's (mis) perceptions.
  18. That is my issue too. I also want to see the Lane/Cornejo Other Dances, but am not excited about the rest of the program. Also want to see Upper Room, but same problem. It's hard to fork over money when you're only excited to see one out of the three pieces and have no desire to see a couple of dancers. I'm going to wait for the rest of the casting to come out, and then I'll decide.
  19. I wouldn’t mind that. In which piece are you thinking?
  20. I am so thrilled I'll get to see Peck and de Luz do Tschai pas on the 21st! After reading all of the stupendous reports about them (esp Peck) in this piece on this site, I'm so happy I'll finally get to see this. I bought my ticket a month or so ago hoping they'd be cast.
  21. The Oct 27 TBA pas de deux is now the Nutcracker pas with Copeland and Bell.
