Drew
Except for Nutcracker I'd be interested in seeing all of these programs. (I'm perhaps more curious than optimistic about the Raymonda, but I am that...) Link to comment
Mashinka
Four performances of the upcoming Raymonda have been cancelled due to Covid problems. However none of the Nutcrackers have been cancelled. Raymonda isn't selling, could that be the true reason four performances are off sale? Link to comment
Drew
Oh dear. That's distressing to read. I suppose there may be personnel issues affecting the new production (including backstage staff) that don't affect Nutcracker but who knows? I certainly hope ticket sales aren't the deciding factor. It's such a great score and, as noted above, I have been very curious how that production turn out as well as how it is received. In the U.S. it sometimes feels as if any ballet title that isn't ultra-familiar has no chance... Edited December 25, 2021 by Drew Link to comment
California
ENB has cancelled Nutcracker through Tuesday, Dec 28. English National Ballet @ENBallet · 3m Nutcracker update: due to a number of positive cases in the Company, we regret to announce the cancellation of our performances of Nutcracker at the @LondonColiseum until Tuesday 28 December. We hope performances will recommence on Wednesday 29 December. 1/2 Link to comment
Mashinka
Raymonda performances now reduced to seven. The poster for the ballet is of a Florence Nightingale figure holding a lamp aloft with a leaping male dancer in the background. Badly chosen. Casual ballet goers would respond to a ballerina in a tutu, something to take the kids to. Not the way to sell an unfamiliar work. Link to comment
volcanohunter
I am willing to take Tamara Rojo at her word when she says the reason for the delay is lost rehearsal time because of Covid infections within the company. New York City Ballet has delayed the start of its winter season for the same reason. Calling off performances on 18-20 January, refunding tickets or reassigning them to other dates, only to reinstate those dates and cancel performances on 13-16 January instead looks nothing like a deliberate strategy to consolidate tickets. Being box office coordinator must be an awful job these days. Link to comment

She did at least one Nutcracker with ENB. Repost @englishnationalballet* * *Today we announce that Maria Kochetkova, Lead Principal Dancer, will be leaving ENB later this month. On Kochetkova's IG Stories, a shot yesterday at Heathrow with suitcases and today in Copenhagen. She's 35 years old and not really a super-star in a league with Osipova. I wonder if she'd head back to San Francisco for a few more years. ABT has no shortage of principal women. Link to comment
volcanohunter
If things didn't work out for her under Rojo in London, how likely is it that Kochetkova would follow her to San Francisco? Link to comment
