SFB 2021 Miscellaneous

Madison Keesler, Ben Freemantle (choreography), Kimberly Marie Olivier, Tyla Steinbach, WanTing Zhao, Thamires Chuvas, Gabriela Gonzalez, Nathaniel Remez (the waiter), Lizzy Powell, Lonnie Weeks, and Jahna Frantziskonis all took part in a film project titled, "Tan". Madison posted some behind-the-scenes video of the production which is pretty great:

There's some footage of Jahna as the lead dancer (resolution is very low though).

"65 years ago, SF Ballet had its first East Coast performances at @JacobsPillow, a pivotal moment for the then still-developing company. Watch video excerpts of those 1956 performances in Jacob's Pillow's brilliant Dance Interactive"

During the long, slow quarantine periods, many of the dancers at SFB and elsewhere are now taking the time visit with family and friends. But some continue to be stage animals and look for every little opportunity to perform. Julian MacKay is appearing with Lauren Lovette at the Yellowstone Arts Festival:

Misa Kuranga is rehearsing for the upcoming performances in Copenhagen for Ulrik Birkkjaer's San Francisco Ballet Solodansere

Here's a nice Instagram post from Ulrik Birkkjaer:

This week im performing in Copenhagen with my insanely talented colleagues from San Francisco Ballet. I joined the company 4 years ago to be able to work with great ballerinas and here we are. ☺️ This week I get to dance 5 performances with Sarah Van Patten who I looked up to many moons ago.
Dreams come true if you work in the direction of your gut. (you might have to create a dance festival to make it all happen 😜)
Thank you to all the ballerinas and of course to Thomas Mieth my co-everything for København Danser.
Lets start this festival off right.
See you in the theater for some serious dancing 💃🏽 🤗

Jasmine Jimison is listed as a second soloist with Boston Ballet. She seemed to be a rising star at SFB. Anyone know if this is temporary? She's also been seen in BB dancers Nutcracker IG stories.

I don't know - it's unexpected, given that she was recently promoted to soloist, and she's having to step down a level to go to BB. I'm going to guess this has something to do with family/personal issues, or she realized she had spent so many years at SF that it was time to experience something different.

Yes, very unexpected and surprising.  Interestingly, the SFB website has not yet been updated as Jasmine is still listed under Soloists.  I am sure this will be updated very soon.

Perhaps with Helgi leaving at the end of the season (and we are still waiting for his successor to be announced) maybe she thought to change now rather than wait and see what happens?

just a quick post to say:  San Francisco Ballet had a welcome and triumphant return to the War Memorial Opera House Stage tonight!! Company looks great and Helgi even had a few words to signal the the company is back!!  Everyone looked so happy to be back on stage where they belong!!  I am tired but will post a bit more later.
