Dance Magazine did a profile of Carla Korbes in it's February 2010 edition, which has been posted to its website. Korbes will make her debut as Aurora this Saturday afternoon, 6 February, in the Ronald Hynd production of "The Sleeping Beauty".

Körbes remembers talking with Boal about their first meeting, how she seemed completely fearless then. “Peter reminded me that as a kid in Brazil I could do anything, but at NYCB I grew to believe that I was bad at everything,” says Körbes. “That’s what’s hard about ballet: You build a belief system and it can crush you.”

When Boal became artistic director of PNB in 2005, he invited Körbes to follow him—thus providing PNB with a versatile and arresting soloist. As a new import to PNB, Körbes was named a 2006 Dance Magazine “25 to Watch.”

Congratulations to Korbes!

Earlier in the year she said she wasn't sure where she and husband Patrick Fraser would live -- he's been in LA -- but it looks like they're starting their married life in LA.

I was sorry to hear that Charlie Hodges was leaving the company -- he's been a phenomenal dancer -- but I think this should be a very interesting development in Korbes career.

If he did it was fleeting. I remember him best in the Tharp Afternoon Ball at PNB, and he may have been involved with some work at the university, but I don't really remember him in a SDP capacity.
