  1. Initial reactions: Excited for A Midsummer Night's Dream. I don't recall this ever being done, at least since I began attending SFB in 2001 Excited for the return of Jewels!!! Excited for the return of Morris's Sandpaper Ballet. I think this may be the 20th anniversary of the piece. Happy for new commissions from Trey McIntyre & Cathy Marston - what music will Mr. McIntyre choose and what literary work will Ms. Marston adapt??? Happy for a new Ratmansky piece Finally get to see Anima Animus and The Infinite Ocean again, along with Bespoke. As these are being performed in London, I expected to see them - along with Scarlett's Hummingbird Disappointed not to see Scarlett's Die Toteninsel - or maybe that is the 'Work to be Announced' on Program 6?
  2. Carlos Quenedit will be joining Miami City Ballet for the 2019-2020 season, where he danced as a Soloist in 2009: https://www.miamicityballet.org/wp-content/uploads/2019/04/FINAL-2019-20-MCB-Company-Roster-Announcement-04-16-19.pdf
  3. FB post: IG posts Congratulations to Esteban, Madison, and Cavan on their well-deserved promotions!!!

  5. Here is a short clip with the creative team behind Marie: Dancing Still - thank you 5th Avenue Theatre for being part of this show's journey!!
  6. (Helping seattle_dancer out here - plus I was curious about other clips which I will look for later....) Here is the clip of 'Looking Back At Myself' - if my memory serves me right, this is adult Marie's first number when she went to prove she was indeed Marie all grown up. I am not sure how much has changed for the current production:
  7. I saw this over the weekend (thanks to seattle_dancer for bringing this to my attention). The big draw for me was Tiler Peck. I have seen her dance with NYCB since 2011 and what a wonderful opportunity to see her in a musical. I really did enjoy it, although the music was not a high point. However, the numbers did move the story along. I think you should go see it if you have the chance. I do hope the show makes it to New York. I managed to find a few clips on YouTube: Tiler Peck (Marie) and Terrence Mann (Degas): A clip of Marie (Peck) and Christian (Kyle Harris) from the first incarnation of the musical previously called Tiny Dancer - happily Kyle is performing the role again in Seattle:

Looks like he will be in the trio with Max & Daniel. I looked at last year's cast sheets to see who he was replacing - it's James Sofranko, who came to my mind when I saw Cavan in Peck's Hurry Up, We're Dreaming. Also, second cast for Björk Ballet. 12. You may be right - I don't recall Sofiane dancing in any of Yuri's previous works. Yuan Yuan, Lorena, and Maria were the female dancers he usually went to. Dores, Jennifer, and Frances are other women who I recall have performed in his works. Then there were others (Dana Genshaft, Lauren Strongin, Wan Ting Zhao) who appeared in Swimmer. But I can't think of Sofiane in anything of Yuri's.

I was wondering who would dance Maria Kochetkova's role in Björk Ballet - looks like Carmela Mayo. Elizabeth Powell will dance Sarah Van Patten's parts. And Joseph Walsh will make his debut in the piece.

  24. I have to say I have been impressed with Cavan Conley. I saw him as Russian in Nutcracker, Espada to Madison Keesler's Mercedes in DonQ, Etudes, The Fifth Season (corps), and Hurry Up We're Dreaming. It was when I saw him in Hurry Up we're Dreaming dancing with Wei Wang that I realized who he reminded me of - former Soloist James Sofranko.
