  1. Congratulations to her and her soon-to-be husband. https://www.instagram.com/p/_2BERTv_8S/?taken-by=ashleybouder
  2. I wonder the same. She's been in the corps for so long too... I think she joined MCB in the corps in 2002 or 2003.
  3. I went last night, and was able to see Peck as Sugarplum and King as Dewdrop. Tiler Peck is truly divine. She made everything look so easy, and she was so light in her dancing it truly felt like she was floating. The lifts with Garcia were incredible too and done very sharply; you could tell she has full trust in him. Garcia was very gentle with her and would bring her down from lifts very delicately. I am so thankful to have seen Tiler dance. She seemed so happy to be out there and that she was just basking into it all. She truly is gifted and was made to be a ballerina. King was a wonderful Dewdrop as well, although I found her a bit hesitant in places and some pirouettes. I found the children quite awesome as well. I didn't get to see Avery Linn that everyone raves about around here, but I found the group from last night quite great and they really knew how to play their part. The kiddo who played Fritz was brilliant. I had a wonderful time, and the decors were absolutely breathtaking. I wish I could time travel and watch Peck dance again for hours on end.
  4. Thank you, this is the kind of details that got lost of me so I am glad you mentioned this. Thank you Helene and volcanohunter for all the links. I will definitely read into everything as soon as I can.
  5. Thank you so much, you beautiful soul! I really enjoyed watching this documentary. Well-done and compelling. I am very unfamiliar with the character of Filin; would anybody mind filling me in, or giving me a link where I could read more about the controversy surrounding him? I got that he made questionable casting and repertoire choices, as well as the alleged corruptions and briberies, but I do want to dig a little deeper. Are people satisfied with Urin's decisions so far? Did everyone dislike Filin? I would also love to hear you Russian ballet aficionado's opinion on Filin, Urin, and just the whole situation. I'm genuinely curious to hear what people with a deeper knowledge of the Bolshoi have to say. Or please point me in the direction of an existing thread on that topic.
  6. Is this only available through HBO for now? Of course the one online streaming service I'm not subscribed to.
  7. Week 6 casting is up, and I basically screamed at work when I saw that Tiler Peck was doing the Sugarplum on the night I am going! Bless the ballet Gods, I've been heard. I am so thrilled.
  8. Oh I am so excited for Silas and Unity. I discovered them through the AOL series "city.ballet" and really loved their style of dancing and personalities, so I'm glad to see they are getting bigger roles. I wish I could attend those performances. I will be going on the 29th evening, I cannot wait to see the casting for that day!
  9. Oh interesting. Thank you. I figured it happened frequently when switching from one company to another, but I didn't think it was possible within the same company. So within the same company, they would get demoted because they got worse, or because they didn't really progress and there are some better up and coming soloist that would be better in a Principal spot? Could they get demoted if they get injured, and then try to come back and just cannot make it back to the same level they used to be at?
  10. Can you get demoted in ballet? I'm thinking if you are soloist or principal and you don't progress or even regress, can you get demoted down? Or do you just not get casted in roles or your contract is broken? I am pretty sure demotion within the same company is not a thing, but I wanted to confirm. Also... could you get demoted if you switch from one company to another? Let's say you're a soloist in one company but maybe your contract gets broken and you get hired in another company, could they hire you in the Corps if they wanted to, or do they have to hire you as a soloist and give you the same rank as in your previous company?
  11. Patricia Delgado and Renan Cerdeiro dancing together always gives me goosebumps. They are brilliant. I saw them in Romeo and Juliet last year and they were divine. Patricia is a goddess. I do wish MCB would post their casting a week or two before each performance. Although all I would go see would be Patricia... Her being Justin Peck's girlfriend, I expect her to be well featured in the Year of the Rabbit that the company is debuting this year. I am hoping to go see it. The MCB repertoire remains quite small compared to other big companies. I've seen the Nutcracker and Romeo and Juliet last year and both were very nice. I saw Swan Lake this year as I had never seen the Balanchine version before, and while it was nice ( I got to see Simone Messmer), I was just disappointed at how short it was. I am hoping that one day they will be able to do a full length one. But that's my personal taste I guess. I want more SL, but I know people do enjoy the Balanchine's shortened version.
  12. Thank you everyone for all the tips. I ended up purchasing the tickets, as I was worried the choice of seats would be limited if I waited too long for the casting to be published. I'm so excited! Now I'm crossing my fingers that I will get to see a few of my favorite dancers on that day. Come oooon Peter Martins, be good to me !
  13. Thanks! It's so hard to judge based on some diagram online. I did read that the rings weren't deep and didn't have many rows, so I feel like you'll still get a decent view even if sitting in the back.
  14. Hey all! I will be attending one of the performances of the NYCB's Nutcracker in a few weeks, and I am so thrilled. I have wanted to see a ballet by NYCB for ever. I am still waiting for them to publish the casting before deciding which performance I would like to see (crossing my fingers Mearns or Peck dance on the days I'm there), but I was wondering if you guys could help me out with the Koch Theater sitting. I'm used to smaller venues (I'm a big follower of Miami City Ballet), and the Koch Theater is a lot bigger. Do you get a good view if you sit in the back of the 2nd ring? Or is it just better to sit in front at the 3rd ring? They are about the same price; hence why I'm comparing the two. Any other seating recommendation? I read online that there is no bad seat in the house, but I figured some of you maybe had some good insights. For some performances of MCB in Fort Lauderdale, I was sitting in the back of the mezzanine and still found I had a great view of the entire performance. I however assume this would not be the case here. Thanks for your help!
