  1. From the POB database of the repertoire, the ballet was danced in 85, 86, 94 and November 96. Karin Averty danced the role in 96 (Agnès Letestu in 94!!!). I have the programme of Dark Elegies which was danced in June 97 (so later in the same season) and Sallie Wilson did the coaching, I don't know if it can mean she did the other one...
  2. I disagree... The cover is superb and some inside are fitting well the mood of fashion magazines...
  3. Well I think this photo session was at the initiative at Le Monde fashion department so that's probably why they adopt the trendy looks of fashion magazines...
  4. Yes you're right.... and quite a few others... A couple of Italians like Alessio Carbone, Simone Valastro who attended Scala school, Francesco Vantaggio (from Roma I think) and were admitted straight to the corps de ballet. Otherwise, I think Mathieu Ganio has only spent two years at the School, coming from Marseille, Jose Martinez , only one from Rosella Hightower School, Isabelle CIaravola, Clairemarie Osta, Nolwenn Daniel spent one (Osta) or two years at POB school coming from the Conservatoire. I don't think Adrien Couvez went to POB school at all. He did the Conservatoire as well. And there must be a lot more that I'm not aware of (Miho Fuji?) Of course, most of the dancers are coming from the school, but the landcape is more diverse than we may think.
  5. Well two years means that she was fit to the style already, otherwise she wouldn’t have been admitted to stay. Most foreign dancers pay for their one year in POB and she remains her second year as a full student. Quite a few dancers at all levels have only done one or two years at the school coming from other French institutions, mostly Paris Conservatoire. Laura Hecquet, promoted Premiere danseuse, did only the two last years at the School also for example.
  6. Well Ida Viikinkoski spent two years at POB school.
  7. Results from today women competition are available on POB website. Are promoted: Coryphées - Ida VIIKINKOSKI - Jennifer VISOCCHI Sujets - Léonore BAULAC - Hannah O'NEILL Première Danseuse - Laura HECQUET 5 positions were available in the Coryphées level, only two have been filled
  8. I don't know if it means something or not, but this year, in the casting sheet of the concours, they took off the explanation of how the points are distributed in the detailed rules. It just states how the votes are taking into account per round and per position. I haven't checked the ONP's website but I presume they didn't publish the top five dancers this year, just the two promoted. Unusual but there is talk Millepied wants to remove the concours, if the staff agree to it. In an article by Telerama this week about the male competition, the journalist mentioned that the dancers were asked this year by a multiple choice questionnaire whether they wanted to keep the concours or not, and the result is that the majority wanted to keep it.
  9. Etoiles and Premiers Danseurs belong to the same numerus clausus. It means the number of each is flexible. So Thibault will leave one more vacant position. Regarding future nominations, it's difficult to say, it will depend also of what kind of repertoire Millepied aims to set up.
  10. The first five in miliosr list are chosen by the AD, the other five, dancers of the company, are elected by the dancers.
  11. Well the only thing that is surprising is that Aurélie Dupont has 5 shows and Dorothée Gilbert only one. The rest is not shameful. There are only 12 shows in this run so it would be difficult to cast a Première danseuse when Etoiles want the role and deserve it. Up to me Swan Lake casting is much more debatable. I do hope Laura Hecquet will be understudy and perhaps will get the opportunity to dance it, but here again, she's only Sujet, this would have been difficult to cast her when Etoiles want the role, even Aurélie Dupont, 42, could not resist while she has danced only one run in her carreer...
  12. You can also secure the first available and then resale it if one suits you better after.
  13. Swan Lake casting is online : Emilie Cozette and Stéphane Bullion got the Première http://www.operadeparis.fr/en/saison-2014-2015/ballet/le-lac-des-cygnes-rudolf-noureev?genre=2 Tickets went on sale this morning but it's already sold out on the web site...
  14. you may also try the second hand official market called "ticket exchange" on the official POB website. it works quite well.
  15. Well, everything is unclear about the tickets sales policy! With the new direction, perhaps it will change? All I can tell is what I have observed the last few years. And indeed, they are sometimes releasing tickets after the saling date, so if you can check regularly, don't hesitate. Sometimes, few tickets are reappearing the week before the shows, it's returns from agencies. Also, tomorrow, the box office and phone sales begin so you may give a try, although I believe the sold out dates will be difficult to get, especially the unique Friday and Saturday shows this season!!!
  16. It's an economic journal. Perhaps there is no point, just because he's again under the spotlights. He hired one of Nicolas Le Riche shows at the Théâtre des Champs Elysées for a private party
  17. Jean-Louis Beffa is president and Jean-Yves Kaced is deputy.
  18. I'm not sure to understand what is the purpose of this article, nor what Philippe Villin aimed at... He's not the head of AROP but was (it seems from the paper he's not anymore) an important patron. Arop (friends of Paris opera ballet) gathers a lot of money for the Paris opera and some members are very involved in the life of the institution, sometimes there is thin line between what you can do as a patron and what you can't. From what I read, they can't choose the artistic director of the ballet company but it looks like he thought he could...
  19. yes and in fact it was recorded on October 31... The casting is now updated on POB website.
  20. Some of these choreographic "workshops" have been performed once in a while at POB in Amphithéâtre Bastille. A lot of dancers are choreagraphing for side shows but I don't think all dancers are able to do that (it needs some talent, no?) and are interesting to do it (that's not their job anyway)... As to be interesting by the music and the lightining, I think they are all, at least when they have a grade where they are requested to use it, that is a part of their job... Of course, if he is speaking of all 154 dancers, perhaps they are not all at the same level...
  21. Well although the casting is not updated on POB website (some changes in the previous shows), it would make sense the 1st cast is going to be filmed on the 4th, rather than the second cast on the 3rd.
  22. It seems that Alice Renavand has sustained an injury recently and won't be coming in Montreal. There is an interview of Amandine Albisson in the Canadian newspaper. http://quebec.huffingtonpost.ca/2014/10/14/amandine-albisson--la-danseuse-etoile-qui-fera-vibrer-montreal-entrevue_n_5986760.html?utm_hp_ref=tw
  23. From culturebox twitter account, the Défilé will be available online after the TV broadcast , November 8th... They mentioned technical problems for the live stream and POB twitter account apologized... Roughly, after the regular Défilé, Benjamin Pech went backstage and came back with Brigitte Lefevre. She bowed alone then kissed and hugged all the Etoiles, they withdrew backstage and she bowed alone with a shower of confettis... then recent (or not) "retired" Etoiles came on stage with Angelin Preljocaj and... Benjamin Millepied... They bowed together in front of the audience.. She also called on stage technicians... There was a huge mix of people on stage… A great moment…
  24. Yes that's what you can see from the running order of the casting on POB www
