The great mezzo-soprano and 1991 Kennedy Center honoree Rise Stevens has died at age 99:

Her son, actor Nicolas Surovy, who was on "All My Children" for many years, made the announcement. In addition to her career as an actress, she also had management roles, leading the Metropolitan Opera Council Auditions, the Metropolitan Opera National Company, and president of Mannes College.

I was saddened to hear of her passing.
I was hoping she'd make it to her centernary.

If anyone happens to be at the Met Opera in the coming weeks, they have displayed on the parterre level some of the costumes Stevens wore in various roles at the Met.
