Berlin State Opera Ballet 2023-2024 season

I was hoping they would bring back Ratmansky's reconstruction of La Bayadere, which premiered in 2018, but not this year.

I guess this is Spuck's stamp. There are Giselle and Sleeping Beauty and a Forsythe program. But I think two works by Sharon Eyal are too many for a ballet company. Her pieces are mesmerizing, and they go over really well with audiences, but you don't need ballet dancers to perform them.

There are major changes coming to the roster as well. Veteran principals Marian Walter and Dinu Tamazlacaru are leaving the company (perhaps more like retiring), and Daniil Simkin, Iana Balova, Evelina Godunova, Aya Okumura and Yevgeniy Khissamutdinov are also leaving. There may be other leavers who aren't dancing principal roles in Onegin.

Im' curious about a number of those dancers and where they may end up. I wonder, too, if this means that Simkin will be seen more with ABT if only as a guest?

Aya Okumura has already joined Czech National Ballet as a soloist but already promoted First Soloist (which is the highest rank there)
