Barbara
So did I, canbelto! Kelli O'Hara was divine and the Too Darn Hot number was exhilarating! Try dancing that 8 times a week - whew! Link to comment
canbelto
I also saw a very different kind of revival, the Oklahoma! revival: https://humbledandoverwhelmed.blogspot.com/2019/04/oklahoma-violence-as-american-as-chili.html I'm taking my mom to see Kiss Me Kate, don't think she'd like the Oklahoma! revival ... sandik
Thanks for the link to your Oklahoma review -- I haven't been following along with this production and it does indeed sound very distinctive. "what was the symbolism of all the falling boots from the ceiling?" Not sure, but perhaps a reference to men keeping their boots/shoes on when they visit a brothel? Link to comment
Quiggin
And thanks for the clip of Damon Daunno singing Surrey With the Fringe On Top. Seems to have a wider, and more adventurous, range than a lot of Broadway singers, as evidenced in this sequence from Hadestown (which got a thumbs up in the Wall Street Journal today): "Hades covers the world in the color of rust ..." https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K77nr8-uhZ8 From Oklahoma: DD's Girl Who Cain't Say No https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9QxS_mwH_oo Surrey/Fringe again https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ozS9j8bWh4 Edited April 19, 2019 by Quiggin Link to comment
canbelto
I urge everyone to see Hadestown, even people not that crazy about musicals. It's really more an opera than musical and it's one of the most original works I've ever seen on B'way. https://humbledandoverwhelmed.blogspot.com/2019/04/hadestown-aka-orpheus-and-eurydice-opera.html Link to comment
abatt
I agree. Hadestown was one of the most original shows I've seen on Broadway in quite some time. Loved it. Link to comment
