So they're releasing Winter's Tale before we get a screening in North America? I thought that the theory was that the screening had to wait until after NBoC had their turn at it... A girl can get confused.

For what it's worth, the Royal Ballet's DVD of Alice's Adventures in Wonderland is prominently displayed in the National Ballet of Canada's gift shop. But this could it harder to market the February 17th screening of Winter's Tale in the U.S.

Don't you wish American companies were as efficient as Royal in recording and releasing new ballets? (Sigh...)

They'd probably have to do the same thing the Royal Opera House did: install the recording equipment and buy a DVD label.

I'll be happy to go see the film in the theater -- I appreciate the big screen experience -- but considering the poor job that so many theaters seem to be doing to promote any of these programs, I won't be surprised if this one is pretty wan as well.

There are screenings in the US in February, just not in Canada.

I love the way that Amazon listing says " Edward Watson (Actor), Lauren Cuthbertson (Actor)" !!.

Anyway the DVD isn't listed on amazon.ca but there's nothing to stop us Canadians from ordering it from amazon.com. mwahaha.

well even with the exchange rate, $20.99 US is a pretty good deal for a ballet DVD.

That is true. After the pre-order period, the price jumps up dramatically, especially on Blu-rays.

The Winter's Tale is being released in Canada after all. It will be available throughout North America on January 27.
