socalgal
We would love to get tickets for Sleeping Beauty for the last Sunday matinee (2/29). Does anyone know if there are seats still available? It sounds as if they have been playing to full houses lately.....i am looking at purchasing tkts on line since I am on the West Coast....are chances good for getting ok seats? Link to comment
carbro
Socalgal, this link will bring you to a ticket avaiilability chart. The pickin's are sparse. Good luck! http://www.nycballet.com/nycballet/atable.asp I can just guess where Manhattnik will be Tuesday night! Link to comment
socalgal
Thanks, Carbro! But I unfortunately did check out the nycb tkt. web page...looks meager at best.....what are the odds of picking up tkts at the theater on the day of????? I was silly not to get going on this earlier... :green: I am going in to Philly to see the BD and she brought up going into NYC to see SB. Oh well....maybe another time.... If anyone has two tkts for this performance.....let me know~ Link to comment
carbro
Socalgal, the site is automatically updated every 15 minutes, so it is practically as current as the box-office-in-person. I think it would be a great outing for your visit with your BD. Even if it doesn't happen, I hope you have a great time in Philly! Link to comment
Juliet
Well, tonight is dark so they can get ready for tomorrow's opening..... I think simply calling the box office soon, doing a charge sale and then picking the tickets up on Sunday sounds like a good bet--it is a big production so any seats should be fine. Hope you enjoy it--it is a lovely production. Link to comment
BW
I'm looking forward to Ansanelli's Aurora on Wednesday night. I don't suppose Farrell Fan, that you'll be there will you? Link to comment
pugbee
Anyone know anything about the two SAB students cast as Red Riding Hood? Is this due to all the injuries among the company members? I'd be interested to hear how they do if anyone sees them. Link to comment
Ari
Pugbee, the role of Little Red Riding Hood has always been danced by a child from the school -- one of this production's nice touches. They cast a tall man as the Wolf, so the difference in size is quite alarming! Link to comment
AmandaNYC
Sold-Out doesn't always seem to mean that-- always try. Yesterday late afternoon (after casting was posted by Alexandra) I traded in my 2 2nd ring subscription tix for this Sunday for two tix for next Thursday (bouder's 2nd SB). So often people like me trade in seats at any point. I'd guess that the ones I got were subscriber seats turned in (front row on the end). I also got a single ticket in the 2nd ring for Tuesday (bouder's debut). So, always check at the BO. Also, even if the theater is sold-out, you might be able to buy donated tickets. A half hour before each performance, NYCB volunteers sell donated tix (tix people can't use) from the left side of the lobby (where the guard is usually stationed). You can often get great orchestra, 1st ring, 2nd ring, etc. seats, as often the people donating are subscribers. So, if the BO has no tix, the ticket donations people might. As far as casting goes, as I have said I'll be there for both Bouder's performances (of course), so I hope to see some of the usual suspects. On Tuesday, I may be a bundle of nerves, as it's a huge debut. Link to comment
pugbee
I see. Thanks, Ari! Never seen it done that way, but I'll admit it's awfully logical! Link to comment
Leigh Witchel
Socalgal - if you haven't already called for your tickets, I'd be willing to go to the box office for you and see what I can do. I have a card for a discount for the 4th ring. If you'd like that, email me - much faster than PMs. Link to comment
Jacqueline
SoCalGal, I am another "socalgal" who had great luck just showing up at the theater when I was in New York a few weeks ago! It happened to be on Mr. B's birthday and the box office had told me the performance was "way sold out." But, being an intrepid ex-New Yorker, I trekked over anyway, and bought an orchestra seat from a lovely lady whose friend could not attend. I also saw that many people were able to buy the "donated back" tickets. I for one was in heaven...Apollo, Prodigal Son, Serenade -- all this and vodka too! By the way, some regulars that I chatted with in the lobby told me you could "always get a ticket." So good luck and have fun! Link to comment
socalgal
A personal thanks to you all for the helpful tips!!! You BalletAlertniks are amazing people! Carbro....you are a dearheart ....thanks a million for getting me the TIX! My mind will be at rest that we have seats before boarding the train to NYC! ( And Jacqueline, thanks for the hot tip. We will lurk around and see what pops up....) We will be there for that last Winter Season matinee, binoculars et al. Yippee! Link to comment
