  1. Part II of my previous post. Waltz of the Flowers http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SUAcfKcyDkQ Grand Pas de deux Adagio Sugar Plum Fairy variation http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zQk2NweiWa4 Apotheosis
  2. And so, this year, I'm even editing and presenting "my own" production of the Nutcracker. Here it is, at its best moments. Part I The Battle The Snow Queen/King PDD http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2of0-6C5nBM&playnext=1&list=PL3A8BD3E8B12E2144&feature=results_video The Snow Scene http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=exWdwMlI3SI&feature=fvsr The presentation of The Nutcracker's sisters, the matryoshka dolls Part II coming up...

    Skorik

I guess Fateev is just as entitled to put on such distortions where artistry used to bee too. You guys are right...we're all entitled to whatever...and "whatever" is getting big.. But whatever...at the end, real art and its best vehicles were and will be put in their right place...and so the opposite too.
  4. All the dancers, Apollos and Muses, of the MCB production are short, and they still did a nice job.

    Skorik

If anything, all this Skorik ordeal has make us divert from our previous candidate, Miss Somova. How sad to think of that Imperial stage stage as that of Sppesivtzeva, Pavlova and Karsavina, and now belonging to the Somovas and Skoriks...
  6. The Mariinsky's version. The Cuban version. No suicide, fight between Rothbart and Sigfried, winning the good guy. Maidens are back to human form, including Odette-(with change of tutus and everything). I had a friend in Cuba who used to say "Now it comes the tutu that doesn't get to be used". It was only shown for the very last seconds of the ballet.
  7. Ah...no wonder that Pas had been such a permanent staple in the Cuban company since the late 40's..! Lovely pic, rg...Alonso had some lovely recollections of Kriza, among those who she has in high regard from her BT times...(Markova, Kaye, Youskevitch, Eglevsky, Hayden, Fallis)- in one of her biographies. I think she referred to him as having an "American playboy type". Her eyes don't fail to have that "lost look",even at that young age...(the upcoming blindness...)
  8. Working tonight, but a collegue brought us pizza.. Not a traditional TG food, but very welcomed..!! Happy Thanksgiving..!
  9. Because she is Madonna. No apologies offered. I was getting a little tired after my four hours waiting, but once the show started, she made it up big time.
  10. She did, Helene! At 11:30 PM, and the concert finished at 0130. It was great...well worth it. This is the Opening... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5qoEimO-gxI&feature=related And this is the Finale, from last night...
  11. ABTF will present its annually Nutcracker run in which AD Mr Issaev "preserves the Russian tradition....as an alternative to those who already have seen Balanchine’s" . (I assume a pro-Vainonen...) http://www.artsballe...tre.org/p2.html
  12. Miss Almeida is listed to dance, along with Joseph Gatti-(also a Soloist with Boston Ballet)-, The Nutcracker in Miami, in Magaly Suarez production.
  13. Miss Magaly Suarez, ex AD of CCBM keeps her efforts and spirits up to bring her Cuban ballet knowledge to Miami. Looks as if she could get the Knights Foundation involved. Good for her. And then...Ivanov' Grand Pas de deux gets to have its stage space-(if more modest than the mammoth Arsht)- at the old but charming "Olympia" once more. "The beloved ballet “The Nutcracker” returns to the Olympia Theater in a dazzling production by Florida Classical Ballet. Directors Magaly Suarez and Ibis Montoto stage an athletic and joyous production of this holiday classic featuring performances by Adiarys Almeida and Joseph Gatti of the Boston Ballet. A Red Curtain Series event presented with the support of Friends of Gusman, Knights Foundation and Miami Downtown" http://tickets.gusma...nces.asp?evt=54
  14. This are the scheduled performances of MCB's Nut. So...WPB doesn't get a run...? Never had in the past...? That's a bit strange. Naples Philharmonic Center November 24-25, 2012 Friday, November 23 at 8pm Saturday, November 24 at 2pm & 8pm Sunday, November 25 at 2pm Broward Center December 14-16, 2012 Friday, December 14 at 7:30pm Saturday, December 15 at 2pm & 7:30pm Sunday, December 16 at 1pm & 6:30pm Adrienne Arsht Center December 20-24, 2012 Thursday, December 20 at 7:30pm Friday, December 21 at 2pm & 7:30 pm Saturday, December 22 at 2pm & 7:30pm Sunday, December 23 at 1pm & 6:30pm Monday, December 24 at 1pm
  15. Ok..so here I am at the Arena since 7:30 pm. It is 10:50 and no Madonna yet...
  16. Miss Almeida was a regular with the Cuban Classical Ballet of Miami performances in the past. She has also been in the roster of the Cincinnatti ballet and the Corella ballet in Spain. I think all that switching between companies hasn't done too much good in her career. She's a wonderful dancer. I saw her as O/O here in Miami a few years ago.
  17. I know nothing of Tsiskaridze and his turmoils, but I notice that he has been very involved in the past in all the galas offered to the old stars of the Bolshoi-(Lepeshinskaya, Semionova, etc..)-and he always seems to be aiming for the "old" Bolshoi, so he being in charge might be a good idea...maybe...? (I'm thinking mainly about how the ballet future could be with him on top, involvement in repertoire, promotions, etc. Others with more knowledge and insight could shred some light on the subject probably)
  18. Yes...the visuals are completely diferent there at floor level. I wish Reyes would had been able to perform in Apollo. He has the handsome look needed.
  19. I missed both the performance and you, bart..!
  20. It is happening on my smart phone too, bart. Everytime I want to access the posts I have to click the "full version" button all the way down.
