  1. As per 1:30 am, "NCLEX Review: 4500 questions and rationales" by Saunders. Final school test coming up in about 7 hours. Wish me luck...!!
  2. Oh, the girl is so beautiful, with that exquisite face and impecable line and regal mannerisms . With all due respect, I would take Part's performances , at any given moment, before those of Murphy, Willes, Herrera and even my dear cubanita Reyes... Petition number one, Mr. MKenzie: Giselle...
  3. Still, Nureyev's biography talks about how he felt quite the opposite, and having graduated and even offered a position at the Bolshoi, his dream was that of dancing at the Kirov, which materialized when Dudinskaya asked him to be her partenaire. I remember something of his words of deference and praising on the Kirov troupe and style compared to the not so polished Bolshoi.
  4. Again, another vote for Lorena Feijoo... http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=htt...t%3D54%26um%3D1
  5. Not a big fan of the show, but I saw a fragment out of curiosity to the "rumba" dance...and I left wondering not other than one question..."Where is the Rumba...?!"
  6. This clip is to pay double tribute. One to Miss Magaly Suarez for having had enough love and desire to bring back Giselle to the Cubans here a while ago-(for which we are always longing, on top of anything and everything), and then to the bailarina Alihaydee Carreno, who was one big favorite among the Havana audiences, and only rival to Lorna Feijoo back then. Last time I heard of her was right during this Giselle run, so by posting this I want to aknowledge her artistry and the great moments that she gave us. Ali, whenever you are, Miss Carreno in Giselle, the Mad Scene, with Osmay Molina as Albretch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wewg9PILChE...feature=related
  7. By memory, I remember in the clip: Alexandrova Cojocaru Feijoo McBride Vishneva who else...?
  8. I'm gonna try to make it at least for friday...let's see...
  9. Oh, that's the lovely Miss Barbara Garcia, the older of the Primeras Bailarinas and to be considered the last dancing exponent of the old times Alonso's school and training. Entrance of Giselle, Act I, with Yoel Carreno Giselle's Initiation, Act II In Chopiniana with Romel Frometa http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mh_IM1mELKc...feature=related As Dulcinea/Kitri, DQ's dream scene http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dc8iPotb3UU...feature=related
  10. I loved her, particularly as the Sylph. she is so expressive...she reminds me a lot of a younger Martha Garcia.
  11. Anette as the Sylph, in La Sylphide and in The Leaves are Fading http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXRgYnPOhTA enjoy!!
  12. No, I'm also confused about it. The last festival I saw live was back in 2000, and up to that point, the age level would always gradually increase...Another thing I noticed is the absence of retired dancers and teachers-(well, at least those who hasn't defected yet). I remember the emotion of seeing the Jewels-(Pla, Araujo, Mendez, Bosh)- appear onstage, and the public warm reaction to them. If anything, I'm always amazed at the sight of Mme's extreme turnout...
  13. I found this clip of the opening night of the festival, that starts with the desfile of the school-(part of it)-and finishes with Mme. Alonso being escorted onstage by Primeros Bailarines Yoel Carreno and Romel Frometa. BRAVA!!
  14. Paul, I did notice the absence of the clip too. I often went back to look at it, just because I do think Lorna was absolutely divine on it-(and I do remember that even Patty McBride was in it too). Now it is gone for good, and it's really a shame. Lorna is one of those ballerinas that just makes you BELIEVE for real in ballet all over again, and there's just not enough surviving clips around that can ilustrate this.
  15. Oh,Frometa is great...a very clean dancer with a beautiful smile and true latin fire. I predict a night with lots of fun... As per Yoelito, I saw him dancing in Havana ever since he graduated, but was always overshadowed by big brother Toto-(Jose Manuel Carreno). As per comments I've received from friends, he's dancing better than ever now. Annette is always a pleasure to watch. Good for los cubanitos!!!
  16. I was actually thinking more about some characters from Act III.
  17. The latter being closer to my personal view, both by changing the original ending-(a la K.Sergueiev)-or erasing part of the story and its characters-(a la Balanchine).
  18. So the Poll's questions are somehow tricky. "Love'em", "Hate'em" and "careless" seem to be options regarding tats likeness or not in general, not specifically to be applied only to stage time. For once, I was one of the "Love'em" voters, thinking about tats per se. Now looking to some posters clarifications and faced with the possibility to see a Giselle or a Sylph with one my choice could be probably a different one.
  19. Don't kill me people, but the more and more I read about B's SL "version" the more I compress my brain to try to understand what makes it different from other takes. What I saw was just a traditional Act II with some IV additions...(the mechanical swans and the props making it even more antique-looking on my eyes...). As per the music, isn't the same beautiful T's used in every production ...? Don't know, but I couldn't really see that famous Odette's depersonalization so often talked about...
  20. Oh, dirac...the upsetting news being that I never made it passed the Knight Hall doors...Carreras' performance had been sold out like two weeks in advance, and I couldn't find ANYBODY to get me in...(for real, being this a first here in Miami. I NEVER buy tickets in advance for anything...ballet, opera, concerts etc..)-.so I went back home wearing my tux for nothing that night... )
  21. Please, help me here: To go on 04/03… https://www.nws.edu/WebSales/ConcertInfo.as...340&pid=902 or http://www.arshtcenter.org/tickets/calenda...ew.aspx?id=3709 or http://www.arshtcenter.org/tickets/calenda...ew.aspx?id=3368 Grrr…Hate this kind of stuff…
  22. Will never be tired of nominating Rolandito Sarabia-(MCB)- for the category. Why...? When he's partnering one can tell that nothing else interests him around but his bailarina's safety. Audience goes second .
