  1. After stalking the site all day, I got home to see that casting is up for the first weekend: Carrie Imler and Rachel Foster are back, in "Symphony in C"! No sign of Lindsi Dec, who looked wonderful in the Jacob's Pillow preview, Benjamin Griffiths, Joshua Grant, or Kyle Davis in principal casting first weekend. Maybe next week when Week 2 casting comes out. Here's the link: https://www.pnb.org/season/16-17/tricolore/ Here's the downloadable spreadsheet for signed-in members: 2016-17 Tricolore Week 1.xlsx

  3. From the PR Newswire: SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 13, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Australian Ballet, Bolshoi Ballet, The Royal Ballet, The National Ballet of Canada, and San Francisco Ballet will collaborate for the third time to broadcast 20 hours of behind-the-scenes footage on Tuesday, October 4. For the first time, World Ballet Day LIVE will be streamed via Facebook LIVE—the longest broadcast ever to be shown on the platform. World Ballet Day LIVE 2015 saw an unprecedented 349,000 views on the day itself and has subsequently reached an audience of over 2 million. Working with Facebook LIVE, it aims to reach an even wider audience via social media channels including Instagram. Viewers are encouraged to get involved using the hashtag #WorldBalletDay and #mydanceshoes submitting pictures and videos of their own dancing shoes. The full schedule for the day will be released closer to the event date. 5. The press release: Stina Dahlström new managing director at Cullbergbaletten Stina Dahlström is appointed new managing director for Swedish contemporary dance company Cullbergbaletten. Stina Dahlström will lead Cullbergbaletten together with the artistic director Gabriel Smeets from 1 October. Stina Dahlström currently works at MDT, the international co-production platform and venue for contemporary choreography and performance at Skeppsholmen in Stockholm. “I am very happy! With my experience and network I hope to contribute to Cullbergbaletten’s important development and work. For me, art always comes first and serves as a basis for all decisions and activities. I look forward to working with the company”, says Stina Dahlström. Stina Dahlström was born in 1982 in Kiruna. She has an education in literature, dance, theatre, economics and project management at the University of Stockholm. Since 2007, Stina Dahlström has worked in various roles at MDT. She is also one of the initiators of the national network Tour de Dance. “Stina Dahlström has a great knowledge and a vast experience in the field of contemporary dance, both in Sweden and internationally. We are convinced that she, together with the artistic leader Gabriel Smeets, will take Cullbergbaletten into the future in a very good way”, says Mia Larsson Dance Manager, Riksteatern – The Swedish National Touring Theatre, of which Cullbergbaletten is a part.
  6. I agree with abatt: the orchestra takes the fairy variations at such a clip that you get tired watching. There's nothing royal or timeless about it: "Shut up and hand over the presents." I don't know if Martins has made changes since I last saw it in 2004, but the Act III variations were Gold (man) and Diamond, Ruby and Emeral (three women). The divertissements were: White Cat and Puss in Boots. Yvonne Borree and Albert Evans owned those roles in its first three seasons. Florine/Bluebird -- the first time I saw it, Kelly Cass, Peter Boal's wife, was Princess Florine Red Riding Hood/Wolf -- for an adult man and a girl, with other children. Zoe Zien, formerly with Miami City Ballet and Susan Pilarre's daughter, was the original Little Red Riding Hood. From a theater standpoint, I found this to be Martins' most inventive segment. Jesters (three men)
  7. It's done! If anyone notices that something has shifted, please let me know.
  8. PNB just posted to Facebook that Kabby Mitchell was awarded a Mayor's Arts Award for Cultural Ambassador with a wonderful photo of him in Kent Stowell's "Over the Waves":
  9. I loved that interview, too. I still remember her as Little Red Riding Hood when Peter Martins first did his "Sleeping Beauty."
  10. Hello Clarissa, You've joined Ballet Alert!, the audience site. You are looking for our sister site, Ballet Talk for Dancers (BT4D): http://www.dancers.invisionzone.com You'll need to register for BT4D separately, and they have different registration policies as well as board policies. For example, they only accept school, company, organization, ISP, and AOL email addresses. http://dancers.invisionzone.com/index.php?showforum=160 I'm going to close this thread, now.
  11. Margaret Mullin interviewed Jonathan Porretta for her podcast, "Beyond the Barre", focused on his new book: https://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/beyondthebarres-podcast/id1141992048?mt=2&i=374027599 Also part of the podcast are four summer intensive Men's Division students, including Phillip Otto and Rachel Butler's son, Phillip (his second summer). Have they really been away from PNB that long?
  12. We're only the list for today, Thursday, September 8.
  13. I've put in the request for the change. It could happen anytime between now and the next 10 days.
  14. There's a new small version change that includes a security patch. I'm going to request one later this morning (Pacific Time). As always, it's not something that can be scheduled, and it may take hours or until tomorrow, because they're going to be busy, but I'll post before I make the request. If you're making a long post, you may want to copy and paste it into a text or Word document, just in case.
