  7. Why?Over the years, the role Farrell has and "should have" played in NYCB and the Balanchine legacy has been argued, and his rift with Farrell and her subsequent departure from NYCB has been one of the big criticisms of Martins' management of the company. I think this speaks to that subject. Edited to Add: I think we need to be judicious in how we address the subject.
  8. I've moved drb's post with a link to Laura Jacob's "Balanchine's Castles" to a thread of its own http://ballettalk.invisionzone.com/index.php?showtopic=22611 because it is rich in discussion points. Thank you, drb!
  9. The Kirov-Mariinsky is performing a Forsythe program from June 13-15, and both carbro and I just receive emails from the Kennedy Center, with a 20% discount offer for this program. To get the discount, you must use promo code "14515." The offer can be closed at any time, so to take advantage of it, you might want to order soon. From the Kennedy Center website (from which tickets can be ordered)
  10. I love the Waterston "Much Ado," and it's available on DVD. (amazon.com has it.)
  11. Thank you for sharing that with us, 4mrdncr. It's wonderful to read how generous and kind people can be. We hope you'll post in our Welcome Forum and tell us a little bit about yourself. (Please click the "New Topic" button in the top right corner.)

  16. Thank you for the link, carbro. I know we all crave ballet coverage from the media, but it's not like Ratmansky's directorsip is all that new, and I hate when they get it wrong: Ratmansky inherited the Donnellan Romeo and Juliet from his predecessor, and it hardly indicative of the scope of his programming. The report mentioned his own choreography once, from an arts critic, but no descriptions or indication that Bright Stream, for example, has gotten fine reviews. If this was going to be tied to the closure of the Bolshoi Theatre, they might have done some actual reporting about what this means to the company and the dancers.
  17. It appears that the same parameter is used for both kinds of quotes, so that sequential quotes are subject to the same limit. (I'll see if I can find something on the support site.) Have a great trip.
  18. We're very sorry to hear that, Whitney, and hope you recover very soon.
  19. Testing new parameter at 11 (expected to fail):
  20. Testing new parameter at 10 (expected to pass):
  21. I just found it and reset it to 10. There was warning text to say that a limit was in place because multiple imbedded posts can cause some browsers to crash. (No list of which ones or which versions.)
  22. I don't have the manual with me, but I'll check for a parameter in the board configuration.
  23. He's no stranger to ballet competitions: he was Amanda McKerrow's (non-competing) partner the year she won in Moscow.
  24. Due to worse-than-usual traffic -- 1 hour 40 minutes to go about 14 miles -- I missed both the PNB Conversation with Patricia Barker (scheduled long before her retirement announcement) and a full-screen showing of Black Orpheus at the Seattle International Film Festival. But the silver lining was that I saw Swing Time for the first time, and in addition to the dancing, I fell in love with the white dress Rogers wears in the last dance.
