Yes, you can see some of the departures on the other thread about Kuranaga leaving.  She is going to San Fran.  Combs is going to be Executive Director at Providence Ballet in Rhode Island.  Buriassi and Doble are both going to Les Grands.  Chalendard is leaving, but not sure where she is going.  Parrondo and Gill are both retiring.  There are other departures, but I am not sure where everyone is heading.  They have already updated the website, taking down the departures, but have not updated for promotions.

Just a note that Combs will be at *Festival*Ballet Providence.  There is an entirely different school/company with the name Providence Ballet.  Both in Providence RI, so the confusion is understandable!

I would love to know what comments you speak about Ramasar saying... in all my readings he never commented... he was not involved in the text messages.. is there something i did not catch?

I would refer you to his IG post from Sept. 17, 2018.  In his own word he admits he had photos, received photo's (although did not circulate the photos) and in addition, refers to the "messages" between him and Finlay being private.

Had Finlay texted derogatory comments about his colleagues and peers based on their race, religion, or sexual orientation, and, had the recipients of those texts willingly participated in the conversation, would we think he—and they—should be allowed to remain in the workplace?

Depends on what you choose to care about.  Some people seem to put ballet (art, entertainment) as the #1 priority and character #2.

  4. Facebook post from NYCB:

"We are happy to announce that Jovani Furlan will join New York City Ballet as a soloist this fall. Originally from Brazil, Jovani comes to us from Miami City Ballet, where he is currently a principal dancer.

Please join us in welcoming Jovani to the NYCB family."

    What are you confused about?

    And yes, so. much. ego.

    And why the constant swearing?

Fraildoves post- her opinion that much of what he says is accurate.  You and others disagree.  That's ok, it's just interesting to me; the differing opinions.

  6. I'm reading this all with interest yet it's left more confused than ever as far as his teaching being correct or not.  If Misty gets rave reviews for improvement in technique when she starts performing again; I'll be apt to believe those who say he teaching is good (but we all agree his presentation is horrible!).  He actually says in one of his videos that he sells his DVD's because he can't "go around the world and re-train every single dancer" (paraphrasing).  Ego, much?

  7. Ok, I hear what you're saying.

The only reason his teaching interests me is because what he said about injuries.  It's absolutely true that injuries are on the rise in young people.  He really has no credibility though, so I can't make any judgement about his methods, yet.  I'm interested to see if Misty improves.

  8. Thank you for your reply.  I do wonder though, how he came up with the heel apart for hyperextension thing if not during his years in Russia??  Svetlana's turnout during plies is pretty incredible though, I can't argue with that result.  I agree he's very rude; there was a particular episode that he was really talking down to his wife, *cringe*.

Absolutely horrid. Why would she want to work with him???

What are your reservations?  I'm just curious- I have no background in ballet training, so I'd love to hear the specifics of what's wrong with his teaching.  I'm very interested in this topic because I have a daughter who is training in ballet.

She just looks so far off her leg, especially on the right; I imagine doing this in class and getting nailed for it. I can't imagine that leaning into the hyperextension is helpful for alignment, or weight transfer, etc. when actually dancing. I am skeptical but whatever--maybe it will help her in some way.

He discusses this topic in detail in many of his videos on his YouTube channel.  He has a whole video dedicated to critisizing Copeland's placement as the reason for her bad turns.  I give her a lot of credit for taking that criticisim and seeking his help instead of just being offended.

The essential problem in these job descriptions is that there appears to be a lot of overlap of responsibilities. Stafford, Whelan and Peck may well get along personality-wise, but there's going to be times when a final artistic choice/decision has to be made, and the three will not be in agreement. So Stafford gets the deciding vote?

In regards to SAB, it might get a little tricky when it comes hiring new dancers.  He's in charge, officially.  Yet she's teaching...I can imagine some clash of opinions.

SFB doesn't have assistant ADs, it has assistants TO THE AD. It's my understanding that this is a role similar to ballet master, but with greater responsibilities...?

Are there any ballet fans that are also Office fans?  This made me chuckle.
