I will bet both of my legs that the health care contribution will be higher than the 3% wage increase.  Does anyone want to take my bet.  If I lose, I'll send you my legs, nice cut and frozen.

Okay I'll take this bet, except I really would prefer you not send me your legs if I win.

  2. As a parent of an SAB student I can say that we're all dumbfounded by how SAB chose to reference Pilarre's departure (the students loved her) when they had many nice things to say about Darla & Ware leaving.  This is the exact line about Pilarre, nothing more or less: "Susan Pilarre will not be returning to the faculty for the 2023-24 Winter Term"

  3. I had never seen Square Dance and will avoid any program with this incredibly boring ballet in the future.

Afternoon of the Faun was everything I hoped it would be, I thought their chemistry was incredible.

I love Megan Fairchild in anything.  Excellent technical ability and artistry.  I never have a reason to complain about her.

I was gazing at Woodward's hands in her solo.  I've never watched anyone's hands before.  I don't even know how to describe how beautifully I thought she danced that with her upper body.

As for the rest of the dances/dancers, I can forgive timing issues here and there.  I take issue with 20+ timing issues in one evening.  Rehearse more.  It's distracting.

Overall I could have skipped everything and just watched the 11 minute Afternoon of The Faun and been happy.  My first time seeing it so I have no one to compare to.

It is not a "punishment" of loyal customers.  It is a recognition that people who are rejecting the Standard Packages, which frequently contain less popular  programs,  and are instead  cherry picking the most sought after ballets through Flex must pay a higher price for that approach.

This makes it sound like we're applying to college and have to make sure we do the required Gen Ed courses if we want to have the fun electives.  Lol.  I should be able to "cherry pick" ballets, this is purely for my entertainment.  Again, they are pricing out younger generations with $73 tickets when I thought they were making a conscious effort to include them.  I'm assuming "30 for 30" is also obsolete?

Those are gone.  Huge jump in price

They went from $35 for years....to $38...to $73!?  I thought they were trying to attract younger audiences.  I was going to buy a 7 performance package and now I'm questioning whether I'll go at all.  Do they only want the wealthy to attend?  I'm seriously asking because they're pricing out us Millennials on a budget.

  6. I thought he was dropping her during the first fish dive!

I enjoyed this performance.  Least favorite was LeCrone, I hope NYCB brings in acting coaches for these types of roles.  I'm a big Hod fan but did not enjoy her in Diamonds.

Favorites for me tonight: Woodward, both MacKinnon sisters (fairies) & Malorie Lindgren (Ruby).

I gotta say Woodward did beautifully during the first part in all the hard sections. She boosted confidence in the Rose Adagio...even trying for a longer unsupported balance at the end of the last promenade that made her somehow lose a bit of her center, but with no major consequences. Her Vision Scene was lovely as well.

    Let's see act II.

I'm here as well.  I loved that last balance. It almost seemed like she was teasing the whole time then brought it out in the last one.  She plays Aurora really sweet and innocent and I love it.   Her penche's have been strong & striking.

  8. She danced from ages 9-12 at SAB.  She started skipping classes and then in her words "expelled".  SAB is a pretty serious place.  Anyone would be asked to leave if they were skipping classes.  So she took three years of children's division classes and now speaks as an authority on ballet, SAB & Balanchine.  Right, makes sense.

In some versions of SB, the same fairy is known as the "Fairy of the Golden Vine."  I cannot find any information to back this up, but I remember reading in a program long ago that the "pointing" is meant to encourage said vine to grow upward.

I can get on board with this explanation.  I'll keep this is mind when watching next.
