Boston Ballet at KennCenter, June 2014 (Warning!)

5 posts in this topic

Sorry but I had a hearty chuckle when I received my 2013/2014 Kennedy Center Ballet Subscription brochure the other day. The section describing Boston Ballet's run (June 3/5, 2014) carries the following warning in italics:

"Please note: Bella Figura contains upper body female nudity."

I don't recall reading such warnings when I saw the ballet in Europe.

Jiri Kylian's Bella Figura will be presented, along with Petr Zuska's D.M.J. 1953-1977. The web version of the announcement also mentions that a to-be-determined Balanchine ballet will be performed.

Easy to picture, since everythig from Monet's Olympia to Goya's Maja Desnuda to MIchelangelo's David are forbidden to show in art class in the public educational system, so...again...rofl.GIFrofl.GIF

I wonder if a dancer who objects would be allowed to opt out?

Yes, they are. There were a number of dancers who decided not to dance in Bella.
