Quiggin
Daniil Trifonov in absolutely brilliant form doing the Prokofiev first and third concertos. How he makes each part its own voice, its own landscape. -limited time accessibility- http://www.bbc.co.uk/events/e848gw#b063dl4h Elsewhere Trifonov with our friend the Shostakovich piano/trumpet concerto. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=WyADlfFSFC0 Link to comment
dirac
Thanks very much for this, Quiggin. His playing is wonderfully characterful and refined, not always qualities associated with the phrase "Russian piano virtuoso." Link to comment
Helene
Thank you so much Quiggin!Trifonov's teacher, Sergei Babayan, who played the Second and Fifth concertos, was splendid, too. I had always misunderstood and thought that the Fourth concerto was abandoned by Prokofiev, not Wittgenstein. It's a remarkable work, here played by Alexei Volodin. Here are the direct links to the pages with the three parts to the program:Numbers 1 and 2Number 3Numbers 4 and 5Today's counter says there are 24 days left to list, which means an expire date of around 26 August. It was very different playing than in the Tchaikovsky competition . Link to comment
