PeggyR
Casting for the first few performances of The Nutcracker. Vanessa Zahorian is back, and she’ll be dancing with her best partner, Taras Domitro. They’re both superb technicians and they really spark off each other; great fun to watch them together. I’m also glad to see Dores Andre debuting in the GPdD on the 14th. Since her promotion to soloist, she has really grown as an artist: real ballerina-authority coupled with strong technique and beautiful arms and upper body. Josette
I think some of the casting has been revised, and the SFB has a few other dates of casting now listed. Beautiful Julia Rowe is slated to dance the Sugar Plum Fairy, who leads the Waltz of Flowers, as is newcomer Norika Matsuyama, who I believe was seen dancing Cupid during the World Ballet Day rehearsal of Don Quixote Dryad Scene. Clara Blanco is back on stage after being out last season. As is stated on another topic heading, Joseph Walsh has been promoted to principal dancer. Link to comment
volcanohunter
Davit Karapetyan has tweeted about suffering from back spasms. I don't know whether this throws his performance on Saturday into doubt. https://twitter.com/DDanceK/status/543119767180046336 Link to comment
